This is a talk that I have given to general practitioners on the importance of identifying and treating post-surgical pain both in the acute and chronic phase. It is an important topic that has been given more attention after IASP's Global Year against Post-Surgical Pain in 2017.

2. Dr Thor Timothy, Anuntapon Chutatape is a Pain Specialist and Anaesthesiologist who practices in
Singapore General Hospital, KK Women and Children’s Hospital, and Sengkang Hospital. He is currently
Director of the Acute Pain Services in SGH. He is also a visiting consultant in National Dental Centre,
Singapore National Eye Centre, and the National Cancer Centre. He is involved in undergraduate
teaching of students from the Duke-NUS Medical School and YLL medical school. He also teaches
post-graduate residents and medical officers as well as nurses and allied health from the Singhealth
cluster of restructured hospitals.
Dr Chutatape obtained his medical degree from the National University of Singapore, and his specialist
accreditation from YLL School of Medicine in Singapore. He entered Faculty of Pain Medicine training
under the FPMANZCA programme, and completed the final examinations during his fellowship at the
Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney, Australia. He has a special interest in acute, chronic, and cancer pain
management. Dr Chutatape believes in adopting the holistic bio-psycho-social model to help patients
young and old, supplemented with minimally invasive interventional techniques, including
neuromodulation.
