YOSEMITE IN SPRING TIME
Bridal Veil Falls, El Capitan, Half Dome
JUNE 22 – 23, 2011 : CLASS #268 TRAINING / FAM TOUR
In connection with our June training class we will be operating a 2-day training tour to Yosemite
National Park. One of the best times to visit Yosemite is in springtime. The waterfalls and wild flowers
are in full splendor, and the grandeur of the valley is everywhere in evidence. There will be ample
time to get out of the motorcoach and walk through the Giant Sequoia Grove, stroll up to Bridal Veil
Falls and hike to Yosemite Falls. We invite ITMI Alumni, friends & family to join us on this Springtime
Adventure. Directed by Ted Bravos, CTP

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22ND – MARIPOSA GROVE BIG TREES / YOSEMITE VALLEY
This morning we will travel east through the Livermore Valley and Altamont Pass to one of
California’s best-kept secrets…it’s the CHEESE! Founded in 1984 by 12 families, Hilmar Cheese is
the largest cheese manufacturer in the world and sells its product to over 50 countries. After a
guided tour and lunch (included) we will climb the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the
Gold Rush town of Mariposa and south entrance of Yosemite National Park. Our first stop will be the
Mariposa Grove Big Trees (weather permitting) to walk among the wondrous Giant Sequoias – the
largest trees in the world! Continue down the valley for an iconic photo stop of Yosemite at sunset.
Witness breathtaking Half Dome, El Capitan and Bridal Veil Falls. This evening, ITMI will host a “Get
Better Acquainted” wine-tasting reception. Accommodations and dinner (not included) will be at
Cedar Lodge located on the Merced River near the Arch Rock entrance.
THURSDAY, JUNE 23RD – AHWAHNEE HOTEL / YOSEMITE FALLS / ANSEL ADAMS GALLERY
We will spend most of today leisurely exploring Yosemite Valley. Our first stop will be at the base of
3,593’ El Capitan, its sheer face of polished granite is a glorious challenge to hardy rock climbers.
Next we will walk to Bridal Veil Falls to feel its fragrant mist as it cascades down granite cliffs. We will
then drive through the valley’s beautiful springtime meadows to the picturesque and historic
Ahwahnee Hotel. Time will be allowed to explore Yosemite Village and enjoy the Ansel Adams
Gallery. Today’s highlight will be an enjoyable hike to the base of 2,425’ Yosemite Falls. After lunch
(included) at Yosemite Lodge we will begin our climb out of the valley to exit the park at the Big Oak
Flat Entrance. As we descend the Sierra Nevada Mountains, we will drive along Highway 49 through
Gold Rush communities such as Chinese Camp. Late afternoon we travel across the San Joaquin
Valley and along the old Sacramento River Road to the Bay Area.
