2. Early life Nelle Harper Lee was born April 28, 1926 in Monroeville. She was the youngest of four born children. Her mom Amasa Coleman Lee was a newspaper publisher and her dad Frances Finch Lee was a pianist. She grew up besides author Truman Capote’s aunt. She was five years old when the Scottsboro Boys case happened, that influenced her to write.
3. Education Harper Lee flowed her family’s pattern; which was public school in Monroeville , a year at Huntington College in Montgomery. When she was about to go to University of Alabama, where she focused on journalism, history and literature. At school she had to edit the newspaper, the rammer jammer. She contained her bachelor’s degree and worked for a law degree. She later then ended her education and moved to New York City where she worked as a reservations clerk for Eastern Air Lines and British Overseas Airways.
4. Mid Life She went back and forth to go and tend her father back at home, who died in 1962. she wrote an essay, "Christmas To Me”, where she reflected on how she is missing home on the holidays. It was published in McCall’s magazine on December 1961.

She said "an old memory of people long since gone, of my grandparents' house bursting with cousins, smilax, and holly." and she also mentioned "You have one year off from your job to write whatever you please. Merry Christmas." From this, you can be informed that she was a hard worker and had to work on the holidays.
6. The Jobs she worked. She edited the newspaper,the rammer jammer, after school. A reservation clerk for Eastern Air Lines and British Overseas Airways in New York City.
