SweepCLEAR® Q&A
Q. What is SweepCLEAR®?
A. Fine SS wire mesh tank inserts.
Q. What is required to use SweepCLEAR?
A. Your existing air separator tank, preferably a tangential style to put the SweepCLEAR media
in. A tank can be added if not present.
Q. How well does SweepCLEAR work?
A. Because SweepCLEAR combines two separating technologies, tangential and coalescing, air
and dirt are removed at two to 3 times the rate of other separators.
Q. Why do I need SweepCLEAR?
A. To remove micro-particles of air and dirt a standard air separator cannot remove. Micro air-
bubbles are what cause pipe corrosion (dirt) and dirt fouls chiller, heat exchangers and valve
strainers. Air removal increases heat transfer lowering energy usage and quiets the system.
Q. How much maintenance is needed?
A. Five (5) minutes monthly to blown-down dirt from the tank, using 1 gallon of system water.
Q. Is it permanent?
A. Yes. SweepCLEAR never has to be touched. 20 year limited warranty – made from 304 SS
wire.
Q. How much does it cost?
A. Far less (3 to 4 times less) than any other filter/separator system. Uses existing tank and
piping, and only takes a few hours to install. Payback is typically less than one (1) year.
Q. Do I still need chemicals?
A. On a closed system chemical usage will drop by approx. 80%. On an open system by 50%.
Q. How quickly will I see results?
A. On extremely dirty systems, in a few days to a week. Systems with finer dirt particles, one to
two months. A coupon-strainer Test Rig is available to demonstrate how clean your system is of
air and dirt.
Q. Is a bladder style expansion tank required?
A. Yes. SweepCLEAR removes 99.6% of the air in a closed system. The cushioning air in a steel
expansion tank will be absorbed.
Q. Does SweepCLEAR cause higher pressure drops?
A. No. SweepCLEAR only occupies 2% of the tank volume resulting in no appreciable pressure
drop increase.
We offer a challenge – try a SweepCLEAR retrofit on your system with the biggest dirt problem. If
SweepCLEAR does not clean up the system in a few months SweepCLEAR, Inc. will refund your purchase
price on the first retrofit.
Please let us know if you have any questions or need more information.
We are ready to solve your hydronic problems.
