Children returning to a Lincoln school next month will be in for an exciting surprise.
Workers from Ringway group went to Woodlands infant and nursery school in Birchwood to do up its
dilapidated playground.
What was originally an old tyre on a run down patch of grass and some faded markings on a concrete
yard was transformed after the group of volunteers finished their work.
Julie Mooring, who was heading up the team of Ringway employees said: "We are doing this as part
of the business in the community project.
"We're really hoping that the changes we've made will make the place fun for the children.
"Another idea behind the project is people who wouldn't normally be out in the field getting the
opportunity to do something and broaden their horizons.
"It has been fabulous getting out of the office ."
Mrs Mooring, who normally works in purchasing at the company , chose six other people to be on the
team working at the school.
"Because I don't normally do this kind of thing I had to pick a wide range of people who would be able
to help me," she said.
Business Development Manager for Ringway Steve Scawthon said: "When we are looking at
applications to the business in the community scheme we have to decide whether it is a worthy
cause.
"We also need to look at if you could make a difference in the time available.
"For children to learn they need the right environment and hopefully that is what we are giving them."
