DINNER AT THE CONRAD CAIRO
At Conrad Cairo
March 11, 2010, The Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs held their Annual Enthroning Gala
and Dinner on Friday 26th of February at the Conrad Ballroom.
Guests of honour at that event were HRH Prince Charles-Philippe d'Orléans Duc d'Anjou and his
wife HRH Princess Diane, Duchesse de Cadaval, members of the royal families of France and
Portugal respectively.
The Royal guests, diplomats, and members were welcomed by Mr. Kevin Brett, General Manager
Conrad Cairo. Among the guests were Mr. Omar Sharif, international film star, Mr. Mohamed
Salmawy prominent writer, Head of Arab Writers Union and Editor in Chief of Al Ahram Hebdo and
his wife Mrs.Nazli Madkour, famous painter.
The evening started by a cocktail reception, in the Conrad Ballroom Foyer, followed by the
Enthronization (induction of new members ceremony) in the Ballroom. Presiding over the
Enthronization was Mrs. Marie Jones, Officier Commandeur, Membre du Conseil d’Administration
International, who came especially from Paris for this event. Among the 40 new members
inducted were H.E. Dominik Furgler, the Swiss Ambassador and H.E. Kaoru Ishikawa, the
Ambassador of Japan.
Mr. Karim Henein, Membre du Conseil d'Administration International de la Confrérie de la Chaîne
des Rôtisseurs, and Mrs. Angela Henein invited Prince Charles-Philippe and Princess Diane to the
head table at the dinner. The royal guests and all the members were greatly impressed by the
original decor and set up of the Conrad Ballroom and enjoyed the seven course gastronomic menu
created by Executive Chef Simon Sperling, as well as the entertainment by the Chamber Music
Trio.
At the end of the evening, HRH Prince Charles-Philippe and Mr. Karim Henein thanked the service
and kitchen team members of the Conrad Cairo for an excellent dinner.
