4. MEDIUMS
Modelling –
A pliable material like clay or wax is shaped in
3D form
Manipulation is done by tools or hands
Casting –
A liquid material is cast in a mold.

5. TECHNIQUES
Lost Wax –
Original model is made of clay.
Mold is made of plaster or gelatin
Molten wax is poured or brushed to make a
hollow model.
Wax hardens, mold is removed

6. TECHNIQUES
Lost Wax
Hollow model is turned upside down and a
sandy mixture is added to fill.
Then placed in a kiln to bake
Hence the name.
Molten Bronze is poured

The molten metal hardens
Projections are removed
The sculpture is burnished to take color and
texture desired.
