A combination of perspectival manipulation, transformation processes, and human energy;
Incandescent explores spatial relationships of light, heat, and bodily presence. A maze of sculpture, in-
stallations, and photography offer the viewer a chance to experience space from an alternate point of view
guided by the artists’ internal expeditions.
The struggles of an isolationist state of mind in the confines of a city are captured through the manipu-
lated images of Hui Meng Wang who transforms the colors of the world around her to reflect her mental jour-
ney through the physical space. Through this psychological self-portrait the images from her series Isola-
tion Book II allow the audience to experience the San Francisco cityscape from a new perspective.
Christina Walley’s installations investigate the individual relationship between the human body and the
landscape they inhabit. Energy Connection creates a map of a landscape where cables extend through a physi-
cal space displaying a strong relationship between the individual and objects in the landscape. Sensing
Energy presents human energy that is detected by the heat emitted from a human body moving through the in-
stallation triggering a maze of lights to turn on, establishing a relationship between the viewer’s body
and objects in the landscape.
Transformation is a crucial aspect to the works of Ella Faktorovich. Her transformation of the fragile
nature of glass into dangerous and confrontational sculpture explores the mysteries behind physical matter.
The use of heat manipulates the form, reveals the vibrant colors, and allows the viewer to see the invisi-
ble that lies within the materials. A dramatic play of light and shadows create an ominous experience call-
ing into question the relationship of the viewer’s body to the world around them.
The combination of the three artists' works in the gallery space, invite the visitor to physically explore
how the external world is altered by internal processes.
