Resilience Center Global Network organized a Resilience Week to increase community awareness of resilience through learning activities, and launched a Resilience Atlas documenting community issues and sustainable practices in Vivek Vihar, Delhi identified through engagement with local residents by the Resilience Center at Vivekananda College. The Atlas is intended to inform community members and guide policymakers on opportunities to improve quality of life at the individual and community level in the locality.

Resilience Week.
“Resilience is about Relationships”
Resilience Week reiterates the core philosophy that
resilience is about relationships. The week provided a
platform for people from various walks of life to
increase their level of awareness largely by learning
and helping each other. There were a host of
community level activities and engagements. These
were innovatively designed keeping the latest
knowledge of adult learning methods.
The learning methods, concepts and content have been
provided by Resilience Centers Global Network
(RCGN)

Under Project Resilience for sustainable development we have been successful to develop an
interface between Academia, Community and Industry with three different community
coordinators in Vivek Vihar.

Community pride “Small Act Big Effect”
This section goes to the people of the
community whose act or effort during
their day to day life is appreciable in terms
of resilience for sustainable development.
The identification of community pride
happens through community interaction
activity/study conducted during resilience center routine activity by researchers/students
/experts working in the area.
Ms. Apsara and Ms. Aarzoo has been identified as community pride for their resilient
vision and significant effort in managing e-waste by reusing it. Resilience center will
acknowledge her effort by felicitating her and sharing her effort to the community and other
audiences at the occasion of launch of this atlas.

instilling resilience in society at community level while doing internship program/project

About Resilience Atlas
Resilience atlas is an outcome of serious and rigorous effort of resilience center working
since August 2014 in the area to make community well aware and informed about the issues
and need identified by the community itself. Resilience Center engaged with the community
using its exclusive non invasive learning methods specifically developed considering cultural
context as an important parameter for resilience and sustainable development. Overall
Resilience Center follows its basic philosophy of Inform Inspire and Implement issues at
community level in order to meet the challenges of urban India and to instill resilience in
society at community level to attain the ultimate aim of sustainable development.
Relevance of Resilience Atlas
Resilience Atlas speaks about specific needs and issues of the community identified by the
community itself. It also provides suggestions on the needs and issues of the community and
recommendations on the same by experts. Therefore, Resilience Atlas can be used as a
guideline by community members. The atlas would provide with key information to each
member of the community on their locality and the existing sustainable practices which can
create opportunities to improve their quality of life at an individual and community level.. It
can also be used for local area reference purposes by policy makers or industry/corporate or
academia or NGOs specifically working for this locality.
Who are we
Resilience Center Global Network (RCGN) is
Resilience Center Global Network (RCGN) is a non-partisan group of multidisciplinary
experts from various locations across the world motivated to promote resilience and
sustainability at the local and community level. The envisioned structure of Resilience Center
will consist of myriad centers that specialize in assessing the risks of the localities they serve.
Basically, the work model of RCGN is to bring together international, national and local
stakeholders to help localities gather information, assess site specific risks and uncertainties,
analyze options, conduct qualitative and quantitative assessment of those options, manage
and maintain best practices and processes and provide ex-post evaluation of adaptation and
sustainable development projects.
What we do
Under project resilience for sustainable development (Principal Investigator: Dr. Seema
Sharma) RCGN has three operational centers based out of Delhi and others are in process of
development in Delhi, NCR and other States of India to engage with community.
