1. Hello! It’s finally August, and here at the American Cinematheque we have some events special
coming up that could be of interest to members of your community:
We’re going old school! At the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood this month the American
Cinematheque will be showing some classic animated films including a double feature of
Fantastic Planet and Heavy Metal on Aug. 12th. The weird and wonderful French animated film
Fantastic Planet throws you into a whole new world, and Heavy Metal brings you a collection of
crazy stories adapted from the magazine of the same name.
Then, on Aug. 19th, Experience Ray Harryhausen’s groundbreaking stop-motion animation and
other special effects that inspired a generation of filmmakers, including George Lucas, Steven
Spielberg, and Tim Burton during our tribute to him! Take this opportunity to enjoy his first
color film, The 7th Voyage of Sinbad, and the famed skeleton fight scene in Jason and the
Argonauts on the big screen, as you likely won’t find an event like this anywhere else.
We would really appreciate it if you could help us spread the word on these events to members
of your community! More information on the events can be found at the website below. Let us
know if you have any questions at all.
Thank you for your consideration!
