4. In this 21st century, technology grows very fast including mobile phone. Everywhere
we look somebody always has this device, from school kids until old guy. Everyone has this
device. From the modest model like Nokia, then Blackberry, Samsung, Windows Phone, to a
super model I-phone. Mobile phone has evolved to be essential need among people.
However, cell phone emits Radio Frequency energy which is a form of Electromagnetic
Radiation in microwave range is said to be carcinogenic in Nature. Because of harmf to the
human body, children, pregnant women, patients with pacemakers or hearing aids should
limit the use of cell phones. In addition, mobile phones are not allowed in planes or
hospitals. Consequently, parents should not give their children mobile phone if it is not
important. I myself believe that parents’ role to minimize health hazards in the using of
mobile phone for children is very big because parents can tell the risk, give the example, and
protect the children.
Firstly, parents can tell the risk to their children. Parents should tell that the heated
mobile phone is harmful because it occurs at surface of the head will cause headache.
Moreover, the eye does not have this temperature regulation mechanism and exposure will
produce cataracts. Children are more susceptible to the radiation emitted from the cell
phone. Their skulls are thinner and their brains are less developed. Since that, children will
have a blood barrier block. It can caused cancer like brain tumor, gliom, and meningiom. In
addition, electromagnetic hypersensitivity will lead the children to be slow response,
fatigue, sleep disturbance, dizziness, and loss mental attention. According to the

Secondly, parents give the example as a smart user. Mobile phones are convenient,

world. Tell the children that mobile phone is basically used to contact others especially their
parents. After that mobile phone is a media to get information. We can get information in
mobile phone through internet access. Parents must tell only the good site is worth to be
access. However don’t forget to manage time. Don’t be a procrastinator. The parents must
show to the children how they can live normally without being addicted to their mobile
phone. Furthermore the children will follow their parents while use the mobile phone.
Thirdly, parents can protect their children. Since parent is the closest people for the
children, parents must care to their children. Parents should take the control of the children.
While the children are using the mobile phone, parents watch them. In addition, parents
must stand by for children. Child who being addicted to mobile phone are indicate that they
are lack of attention from their parents. Maybe their parents don’t realize their role or they
too busy to stand by their children. Whereas, child is in growing part if the parents don’t
care, children are directly exposed to mobile phone. Parents should show an awareness
because children need their parents more than they need the mobile phone.
How much you care as a parents? If you realize that your role is big to detract health
hazard of mobile phone for your children you have to tell the risk of use the mobile phone,
give the example as a smart user, and protect them. Otherwise, if you still don’t care about
your role, your children might reap the health hazard in the use of mobile phone.
