English language requirements
For exchange students an English language qualification is not
mandatory, but your sending institution should be satisfied that
you are proficient in English to at least the level of Cambridge
First Certificate (FCE), and preferably to the level of Cambridge
Advanced Certificate. A pre-sessional language course is
available if required.
To be accepted as a visiting student you must have a qualification
in English Language whether your first language is English or not.
You must have an IELTS (or equivalent) score of at least 6.5 overall,
with no less than 6 in each component.
Accommodation
There is a wide range of accommodation for students in
Loughborough, on and off the campus, and a dedicated
Student Accommodation Centre will help you to arrange this.

Supporting you
You can expect a warm welcome to our School. Our dedicated
team in the International Relations Office will look after you
during your stay.
In addition to University welcome and orientation sessions
there will be an induction session to help you to settle into
academic life in the School.

2. Who can study with us?
Exchange students
You can come to us as an exchange student if you are studying
at one of our partner institutions.
Visiting students
You can join us as a visiting student if you are not studying
at a partner institution.
You can study with us for a semester or a year. Our teaching
programmes range across Business, Management, Finance,
Information Management and Economics and are renowned
for being designed to meet the needs of industry.
To be eligible you must have completed at least two years of
study of a four-year university or college degree (or one year
of a three-year degree).

Summer schools
Undergraduate and Masters students looking for a short,
intensive study option can apply to our International Summer
School which focusses on international sports management.
MBA students can attend the European Summer School in
Advanced Management.
What can you study?
You can choose from around 40 modules each semester from
across the School’s areas of expertise, to suit the requirements
of your degree. You can choose from:
• Introductory topics
• Marketing and Retail
• Human Resource Management
• Management Science and Information Systems
• Accounting and Finance
• Enterprise
• Economics
It may also be possible to take a language module worth 5 ECTS
as part of your study programme.

Workload
The normal semester workload at Loughborough is equivalent
to 30 ECTS – or 60 ECTS for one year.
Your home University must confirm the number of credits you
are required to study.
If the combined percentage mark for the module is 40 or more,
ECTS credit is awarded for that module.

The School of Business and Economics welcomes exchange and
visiting students from all over the world to come and study with us.
Applying
Students coming in October (Semester 1) must apply by 15 June.
Students arriving in January (Semester 2) must apply by 15 November.
Exchange students
To come as an exchange student you must be nominated by your
home institution before you can apply to us.
To begin the exchange process, you should contact your Study
Abroad office to find out how they select students to study abroad.
If you are selected your institution will inform us and we will contact
you directly with the application form.
Visiting students
To come as a visiting student you must apply on the Visiting Student
application form, available to download on our webpages.
In all cases we advise you to contact your Study Abroad office as soon
as possible, and we will work with them to make your application
process a smooth one.
