1. Accessories
Press your shirts and hold onto your skirts lads and ladies, Trinity Ball is upon us! Soon enough Campus will be
crawling (literally) with suave gentlemen and elegant ladies, enjoying the joyous occasion. You’ve probably
saved up a bit of cash to fund the night, probably for a new suit, taxis, alcohol, bail money, etc. Either way,
you’ll need accessories to make your outfit pop. I endeavour to give the gents some tips on what accessories to
purchase and how to style them.
So, you’ve got your suit sorted, shirt pressed, shoes buffed, and tie ready. Some may think that’s all they need.
However, if you want to stand out from the crowd and obviously pull, you’ll need to do a lot better. You sir are a
man, possibly on a mission, or just wants to have the craic and look good doing it. Regardless, you need to flex
your sartorial might. How about a pocket square to match that bow tie? They go together like ham and cheese,
or vodka and red bull. It fits nicely in the left pocket of a suit jacket or blazer and can be folded or stuffed in
different ways. It might not seem like much of a difference but it’s a good start.
Depending on what floats your boat, there’s still room on the suit jacket to utilise. I’m talking about a lapel pin.
It’s usually a flower, charismatic animal or symbol that’s pinned to the either side of the lapel of a suit jacket or
blazer. This is for the meticulous man who breaks tradition and ushers in change. It’s also a conversation
starter because it’s different from the norm. Not to mention, you’ll look smart, sophisticated and downright
dapper.
There’s a few lads who would like to go the extra mile with their smart wear but aren’t sure what to add. Well
look no further, what you need is a pocket watch. This bad boy embellishes your entire outfit, and promotes you
into the league of the accessorised masterclass. Team it up with a watch of the same colour and you’re
cementing your place in that best dressed list. However, it’s only for lads wearing three-piece suits because its
clips on the waist coat.
It’s a well-known fact that accessories can make or break an outfit. In order to pull it off, you have to feel
confident in what you’re wearing. Your style is your message to the world, make it interesting. Ensure you try
out some of the accessories I suggested. Fix up, and look sharp!
