To the Imperial Valley Regional Occupational Program Community Foundation,
The Calexico Farmers’ Market Committee would like to recommend Salvador Villalon
for the Exemplary Community Involvement Award given his steadfast dedication to our
community events in the past two years. Salvador has contributed an average of 6 hours every
market weekend since our initiation, totaling close to 100 hours, and will be past that mark by
the season’s end. His commitment has been crucial to our success in a myriad of ways.
Salvador is a prime candidate for this scholarship given his unique ability to lead others
by example. His participation stretches far beyond the hours of his free time spent on logistical
needs including but not limited to: loading and unloading local commodities, helping setup and
takedown booths as well as attending patrons with courteous energy. His understanding of our
purpose has motivated his peers as well, managing to rally more volunteers from the CHS Eco-
Garden Club. Having unrelenting support from his group has provided this community with
more than local vegetables and artisanal goods; they’ve created a hub for cultural exchange and
education.
Salvador is intelligent, humble and quiet but his demeanor should not be taken lightly.
His determination for success drives his inner focus toward physical triumphs. He is a scholar-
athlete who juggles multiple responsibilities with balanced poise, inspiring others to follow suit.
Your organization’s contribution to this student will undoubtedly go in similar fashion to the
hours he’s logged; it will help him far beyond the dollar amount. In austere times, students like
him need any assistance available; facilitating his tuition, book or meal purchases could go a
long way.
Thank you for your consideration,
