In recent years energy efficiency has risen up the global agenda, and many countries are
implementing large-scale smart meter roll-outs to meet energy targets. These smart meter roll-
outs are creating market opportunities for demand response-enabled smart home energy
management devices, such as in-home displays and smart thermostats.
This report is presented in three regional volumes and includes installed base, shipment and
revenue numbers by region and device from 2014 to 2025, with historic data presented from
2011.
This report also provides regional analysis of connectivity protocols by shipment, and detailed
profiles of factors influencing the smart home energy management market in each country.
In addition to the forecasts and analysis on device markets, a detailed profile of each of the 24
countries and regions is included in the report appendix, which analyses important factors
influencing the smart home energy management device market for that country. Factors
covered include: electricity market structure, investment in smart grid and smart meters, major
regulatory issues and/or mandates, and the use of consumer incentives like Time-of-Use or
dynamic pricing. Examples of recent smart home device trials and roll-outs are also included.
