The True Story of the Three Little Pigs
The “True Story of the Three Little Pigs” is based on the story of the “Three Little Pigs” but retelled by the Big
Bad Wolf’s (called Al). Both stories have the same characters: the three pigs and the wolf (called Al), settings:
the straw house, the stick house which are blown down by the wolf and the brick house which remains intact
and a similar structure of events but with different causes and results.
The “True Story of the Three Little Pigs” is narrated in 1st person by Al the wolf from jail whereas the original
story of the “Three Little Pigs” is narrated in 3rd person. Al complains he only went to the pigs’ house to borrow
a cup of sugar as he had ran out of it while baking a cake for his granny. He accidentally blew down the first two
houses when he sneezed because of an awful cold he had and ate the 2 pigs as they were already dead and
didn’t want to waste their meat.
Whilst in the traditional story he intentionally destroys the houses and chases the pigs around until they get to
the brick house. This makes the character of the wolf seem totally different in each story, while in the original
story he is mean, angry and dishonest, in this version told by him he looks humble, friendly, saver and a loving
grandchild, who the reader should be sorry for because he was unjustly imprisoned.
