Bluemix challenge: build a collaborative encyclopedia of concept maps
Are you still looking at texts on the web ?
With concept maps the knowledge is intuitive and immediate
Each balloon in the map drives to another map, an online resource, or an explanatory pop-up
Features 1. Search knowledge contained in maps 2. Create or edit maps using the online editor 3. Voting system to provide content editors with feedback 4. Concept expansion: automatic map generation on new search queries 5. Maps are easy to read, navigate and share on social media
Concept expansion • Create maps automatically   • POC: Wikipedia   • Next: IBM Watson
Why we decided to use BlueMix • Painless OS abstraction and an enterprise Java stack   • Built on the Websphere Liberty Runtime, which comes preconfigured • Session Cache service — ready to scale   • Cloudant database account ready to go with no setup time   • DevOps Services for source control and as a task planner
We demonstrated the importance of building a scalable application and the need for a scalable infrastructure. Scalability through configurability is a great concept implemented by Bluemix. Using Bluemix services as components for your application removes all the hassle of setting up, configuring, and deploying your application back end. By using the building blocks provided, you can get a scalable cloud application up and ready in minutes, including complex mechanisms such as distributed caches or distributed session stores.
