The Make in India initiative aims to transform India into a global manufacturing hub and increase the manufacturing sector's contribution to India's GDP. Launched in 2014 by Prime Minister Modi, it seeks to attract foreign investment, boost innovation, and create jobs in 25 key sectors. While India's competitiveness ranking and FDI inflows have increased, the manufacturing growth rate and FDI in the sector have been lower than expected. The campaign's long term success depends on sustained reforms and improving the business environment to truly realize its vision.
1. Make In India
The Make in India program is an initiative under the Department of Industry
Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
Primarily devised to transform India into a global design and manufacturing hub
it also aims to facilitate investment, foster innovation, enhance skill development,
protect intellectual property, build best in class manufacturing infrastructure.
The campaign was launched on 25th of September 2014 in Vigyan Bhawan which
is in New Delhi and This was launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
2. Reason behind the campaign
• To attract the Foregin Investors to invest in India.
• Govt. of India is running this campaign to encourage the domestic as well as MNCs in order to
manufacture goods and products in India.
• Since India is growing very fast and developing tremendously, India Need employment as well as
manpower, so by looking at this, the effort made by PM and he launched Make in India campaign.

• The way our government is trying to get international attention for Make in India it
does look like they are serious about their work.
• MakeinIndia is not just a government policy for reforms in the manufacturing
sector, it is not just a shitty paper to impress the voters.
• Our future, our motherlands future can change if things work through.
• A recent UN report has forecast that the Indian economy will grow by 7.6% in 2019
and 7.4% the following year, putting it ahead of other economies in the region.
Future of Make In India
14. CONCLUSION
• With the ‘Make in India’ campaign the government wants an image makeover for India, making it an
ideal destination for manufacturing which would be a big thrust to Indian economy, increase
employment and also add to the GDP.
• However, it is important to understand that, only the launch of campaign will not guarantee its success.
• The manufacturing sector in India is yet to see big gains from ‘Make in India’ campaign. But
government is moving slowly but steadily in the right direction to make India a manufacturing hub.
