In July 2009, driven by the worldwide price rise and gradually growing demand, China's TiO2 price has continued to go up. The prices of raw materials such as titanium concentrate and sulfuric acid have also recorded slight increase, but that of titanium slag maintained downturn due to the sluggish sponge titanium market. Besides, China's TiO2 import continued the uptrend in May, driven by further implementation of ten industries' revitalization plans and the rising tax rebate of many downstream products. The slight recovery of plastics industry will also boost TiO2 consumption in the coming days. Though China's TiO2 industry has recorded rapid growth in the past few years, especially in rutile sector, which accounted for 48.5% of the total capacity in 2009, it's still facing difficulties such as inefficient technology and inferior product quality, etc, partly leading to the decreasing export in recent years. Among the major TiO2 production areas in China, Panzhihua city sees higher TiO2 prices compared to other regions, despite its rich titanium resources and high industrial concentration degree, mainly owing to growingly strict environmental requirements and insufficient local supply of sulfuric acid. Facing the global economic recession since H2 2008, some enterprises have suffered huge losses, and some others are seeking for merger and integration to expand. For instance, Hunan Yongli plans to acquire its competitor Hengyang Tianyou, indicating the possibility of industrial reshuffle. And a downstream enterprise Dawn Group has launched a 20,000t/a TiO2 plant mainly to meet its own demand in plastics products production.China's TiO2 trade has kept stable in May 2009 with continually increasing import volume and slightly decreasing export volume. Hunan Yongli plans to acquire Hengyang Tianyou to expand its share in TiO2 market.Dawn Group launched a 20,000t/a TiO2 line for trial production on July 1st 2009.Chinese TiO2 still has a long way to go out due to low product quality and inefficient technology.Panzhihua's titanium dioxide industry is facing difficulties such as small average capacity and short of sulfuric acid, etc.Rutile TiO2 industry has recorded rapid growth in China in recent years.TiO2 products and major raw materials have all recorded slight growth in July 2009.Panzhihua's TiO2 price is generally higher than those of other regions due to short sulfuric acid supply and strict environmental requirements. China's import volume of high titanium slag will decrease in the next several years with rising domestic output and stable demand. Despite its bright future, China's titanium slag production will not largely increase in the short term.China's plastics industry has shown signs of slight recovery in H1 2009.India's anti-dumping on China's anatase TiO2 has little impact on China's TiO2 export.

Report Summary
In July 2009, driven by the worldwide price rise and gradually growing demand, China's TiO2 price has continued to go up. The prices
of raw materials such as titanium concentrate and sulfuric acid have also recorded slight increase, but that of titanium slag maintained
downturn due to the sluggish sponge titanium market.
Besides, China's TiO2 import continued the uptrend in May, driven by further implementation of ten industries' revitalization plans and
the rising tax rebate of many downstream products. The slight recovery of plastics industry will also boost TiO2 consumption in the
coming days.
Though China's TiO2 industry has recorded rapid growth in the past few years, especially in rutile sector, which accounted for 48.5%
of the total capacity in 2009, it's still facing difficulties such as inefficient technology and inferior product quality, etc, partly leading to
the decreasing export in recent years.
Among the major TiO2 production areas in China, Panzhihua city sees higher TiO2 prices compared to other regions, despite its rich
titanium resources and high industrial concentration degree, mainly owing to growingly strict environmental requirements and
insufficient local supply of sulfuric acid.
Facing the global economic recession since H2 2008, some enterprises have suffered huge losses, and some others are seeking for
merger and integration to expand. For instance, Hunan Yongli plans to acquire its competitor Hengyang Tianyou, indicating the
possibility of industrial reshuffle. And a downstream enterprise Dawn Group has launched a 20,000t/a TiO2 plant mainly to meet its
own demand in plastics products production.
China's TiO2 trade has kept stable in May 2009 with continually increasing import volume and slightly decreasing export volume.
Hunan Yongli plans to acquire Hengyang Tianyou to expand its share in TiO2 market.
Dawn Group launched a 20,000t/a TiO2 line for trial production on July 1st 2009.
Chinese TiO2 still has a long way to go out due to low product quality and inefficient technology.
Panzhihua's titanium dioxide industry is facing difficulties such as small average capacity and short of sulfuric acid, etc.
Rutile TiO2 industry has recorded rapid growth in China in recent years.
TiO2 products and major raw materials have all recorded slight growth in July 2009.
Panzhihua's TiO2 price is generally higher than those of other regions due to short sulfuric acid supply and strict environmental
requirements.
China's import volume of high titanium slag will decrease in the next several years with rising domestic output and stable demand.
Despite its bright future, China's titanium slag production will not largely increase in the short term.
China's plastics industry has shown signs of slight recovery in H1 2009.
India's anti-dumping on China's anatase TiO2 has little impact on China's TiO2 export.
