The market prices of many insecticides in China continue to keep stable this month, and a few keep ascending driven by the growing demand. Taking 95% acetamiprid technical for example, in early May, its market price increases drastically to USD22,610/t. As investigated, supply shortage is the major driver. Besides, another major insecticide, imidacloprid, also sees a tight supply at present. May is the traditional peak season of pesticide sales in China, pesticide dealers take an optimistic view of the sales in view of the current market demand in China. The severer occurrence of insect pests over 2011 and increasing export volume are the major factors promoting the demand for pesticides, which also raises pesticide manufacturers' previous expectation of large pesticide consumption in 2012. Market prices of most pesticides, especially insecticides, keeps rising in May. Besides, the development dynamics of some hot insecticides like spinosad and botanical insecticides (flufiprole and cnidiadin) also draws attention, which will be introduced in this issue.Up to 19 April 2012, flufiprole and ivermectin have obtained respective formal registration, and cnidiadin obtained a temporary one in China, according to ICAMA. Jiangsu Yangnong embraces rise both in revenue and net profit in 2011. Hunan Haili performs well in 2011, with a slight growth both in revenue and net profit. BBP generates a large revenue growth to ABA Chemicals in 2011, according to the company's Annual Report 2011. On 7 April 2012, Jiangsu Fengshan announces the completion of its expansion of chlorpyrifos technical's capacity to 5,000 t/a and technological transformation.Jiangsu Changqing will construct a new 1,000t/a production line of imidacloprid technical to replace an existing one built in 2007. Cycloxaprid developed by China and highly valued by foreign companies will possibly be launched in three to five years. Banned insecticides namely methomyl, dicofol and endosulfan are detected in tea products of a famous multinational company on 24 April 2012. Rudong Huasheng is going to build production lines of pesticide technical (2,000t/a) and pesticide formulations (3,100t/a) and byproduct ethanol. The occurrence of locusts, especially Asiatic and Tibetan migratory locusts will be relatively light in China in 2012. In Q1 2012, China sees a 16.5% YoY increase in import volume of insecticides, according to the statistics from China Customs. On 30 March 2012, Beijing Yoloo gets the registration of 20% spinosad WG, which is the second registration of spinosad WG in China.
