Nations Force in Cyprus.
After his initial training as a soldier he trained as a chef at the Defence School of Catering Services in
Aldershot. After his training Private Trask joined 3rd Battalion The Parachute Regiment where he became
an integral part of the Catering Platoon serving in many locations on a tour of South Armagh, feeding a
large selection of the Unit on his own and as part of a team. He moved with his family to Paderborn in
Germany, joining the Royal Dragoon Guards, before deploying back to Northern Ireland, this time Belfast.
During this time he was promoted to Lance Corporal. The Unit eventually returned to the UK and he
completed a deployment to Cyprus.
In 1998, Lance Corporal Trask was posted back to the UK to the prestigious Royal Military Academy
Sandhurst, where he was promoted to Corporal and received a certificate of distinction from the then
Commandant Major General Denaro CBE DL. With the promotion came another move, to 29 Regiment
Royal Logistic Corps where Corporal Trask was the kitchen manager. This Unit is responsible for the
movement of troops and equipment on exercises and deployments and Corporal Trask was responsible for
the feeding of over 1000 troops. Corporal Trask deployed with 59 Squadron to Iraq before the start of Gulf
War II in 2003 where he set up a successful feeding station in Kuwait. He then returned to Germany
(Munster), 1 Close Support Medical Regiment and deployed to the Falkland Islands for 6 months as Acting
Sergeant again as kitchen manager. Corporal Trask was heavily involved in catering for many functions
involving high-ranking Officers and members of the Royal family. During his time at 1 Medical Regiment he
successfully led a team for Exercise RHINO CATERER which is a combination of military skills mixed with
field catering skills and competition catering. In 2011, Corporal Trask was posted to 101 Support Battalion
REME (Bielefeld) where he took charge of his first Unit kitchen. He continued to strive for success liaising
with contractors and managing the introduction of Pay As You Dine to his Unit.
Corporal Trask has been involved with Army Football for 22 years and has served them well within the
refereeing department, so much so he was awarded the ‘Dobson Trophy’ last year for services to Service
Football by General Sir Peter Wall GCB CBE ADC. He is a keen boxing official and has done much charity
work for service charities raising awareness and funds.
Corporal Trask has had a full and busy career in the Army, where he has proven himself to be an
