2. Opening scene
† First shot is of a house, in the
late evening. Stormy weather
reflects the mood
† Focuses on window pane with
rain dripping down, cuts to
interior
† Interior is a messy office ,
dimly lit(notes and papers
everywhere with whiskey and
cigar)
† After looking at one of the
notes pinned up detective sits
down and hears a knock at the
door.

3. Second scene
† Shows wide shot of the
door
† Detective tells whoever it
is to enter
† Door opens slowly
(creaking)
† Shows a man standing in
the door way (outline)
† Detective recognises him

4. Third scene
† Man slowly walks across
the room
† Detective takes a seat at
his desk
† Man takes seat opposite
him when he reaches the
table
† They exchange cold
stares (over the shoulder
shot)

5. Fourth scene
† They have a conversation
about the case the
detective is working
on(dialogue will be
added)
† After conversation they
stare at each other
coldly again
† Visiting man suddenly
pulls away from the table
with pistol drawn and
fires 3 times (depending
on editing)

6. Final scene
† Man looks over the edge of
table, shows shot of dead
body
† Turns walks back out the room
† Cuts the wide shot of the
house from outside still
raining.
