At the end of FY 2001, TC 2800 employed
over 700 examiners. As we continue to hire
and our workload continues to grow, it is
anticipated that TC 2800 will expand to nearly
1,000 examiners by 2004. Based on this
assumption, an Organizational structure to
manage this workload is proposed in the
following slides.

Training Structure
 Allow TC SPEs to work with the Patent
Academy for new examiners training.
 New examiners will be trained by Trainers.
 Team Building Training for new examiners.
 Art Specific Examination & Search Training.
 Appeal Conference Training for examiners.
 Interference Conference Training for
examiners.
 All Training materials are available at the
Shared S: drive.

Tech Support Structure
 Art Unit and LIE merge together.
 Reassign/restructure Team 1 – Team 9.
 Training Office Assistants (LIE) of Art
Units for their new functions to improve
job efficiency and art unit relations.

with the Primary Examiners in the Group.
 Classify new cases as soon as possible.
 Improve the In-group and Out-group
classification transfer function with new
transfer slips.

 Receive feedback to improve Fax Center

 Receive feedback from the central file contractors to
improve the central file maintenance efficiency and
facilities.
 Receive feedback from the mail room contractors to
improve the mail handling procedures for incoming and
outgoing mails.
 Receive incoming fax by LIE to improve the Fax
handling procedures.
 Enforce using Palm Expo for docketing locations.
 Receive feedback from the paper matching contractors to
improve the paper matching facilities and efficiency.
 Remote central file location to improve filing facilities
and efficiency.
