1. Dear Doctor Phil
April 14, 2009
While listening to your show, this Tuesday after Easter, I am trying to understand why
people do drugs.
It blows my mind seeing the young people wasting their lives on alcohol and drugs. I have
never been drunk because I don’t drink. I have never taken an illegal drug and I don’t
smoke anything nor have I tried, so I can’t imagine being in their place. I’m just glad I
resisted and said NO!
It is extremely hard for young people to survive these days with all the temptations out
there from drugs and alcohol. There are also all the bad choices in food and beverages
advertised and so readily available to them like soft drinks and caffeinated beverages as
well as fast foods. Little are they aware of the potential health threats they are likely to
encounter in the future as a result of these poor choices, thus jeopardizing their well-
being.
I believe that everything in moderation coupled with education and awareness is the key
and that one is never too old to learn. It is to everyone’s advantage to be medically
informed so that we can practice conscious prevention. Knowledge of our medical
condition and of all the medication we must take (natural or prescribed) as well as
interaction between these drugs and our diet is of great importance if we wish to
function at an optimal level. Discussions with your medical practitioner or your pharmacist
are actively encouraged.
If parental guidance was diligently applied where computer access sites and web cams are
concerned, it would probably benefit our younger generation. Awareness of chemicals
contained in makeup and hair products would also be beneficial in helping our teenagers
make better choices in the products they use.
Thank you.
Yours truly,

2. Man the inventor
Man, inventor that you are
Inventions so useful and good
But why do you use them against yourself?
The gun was made for hunting animals
But then you turned it against yourself
War we now have, blood everywhere
Drugs to cure illness
That you used against yourself
Not to cure but to create illusion
A high, a buzz, or a delusion
And thus to destroy the mind
Alcohol, invented for pleasure
Again you used it against yourself
Not all of you, but some, to hide from reality.
You think that it will ease your problems
And that they will disappear
Man, inventor that you are
Inventions so useful and good
But why do you use them against
YOURSELF?

3. What is a child?
What is a child?
A tiny human being
So beautiful, so innocent
Free from all and any prejudice
But man takes over only to corrupt
Some survive, some do not
What is a child?
A toy for man’s pleasure
Discrimination is his game
By driving children insane
And with his wars and his drugs
Do they have a chance of growing older?
What is a child?
The future of us all…
When he is born we are young
When he is young, we are old
When he is old, we’ll be gone
And who is left to carry on?
What is a child?
A tiny human being
No matter what creed or nationality
A child is a child, no matter who he is
What is a child?
A tiny human being
So beautiful, so innocent
Free from all and any prejudice!!!
