Ali Jehangir Siddiqui is a prominent Pakistani diplomat and entrepreneur, currently serving as Pakistan's honorary ambassador for foreign investment. He previously held positions as the ambassador to the United States and special assistant to the Prime Minister, and he founded JS Bank in 2006. Agritech,andMonte Bellowhichcausedlossestoinvestorsandshareholders.Theirclaimwasthathe's
the directorof Azgardwhichsiphonedmoneysamountingto€23.758 milliontopurchase the company
Monte BelloSRLusinganothercompanyFairytal SRLSwedenwhichresultedinlossforshareholders.He
alsosold sharesunderAzgardto governmentinstitutionsathighermarketrate inorderto compensate
for the company'sloans.
On the contrary,other reportssuggestedthatthe allegationsfromNABwere baseless.These allegations
were politicallydrivenbecausethe AzgardandAgritechmatterswere alreadysub-judice priorto
Siddiqui'sappointmentandSiddiqui wasneitherapartynor a respondentinthese proceedings.Siddiqui
had alsoleftthe boardof directorsof Montebellosparentcompany4years priorto itsbankruptcy.The
counterclaims,thus,indicatedthatthe allegationsinthe investigationwere anattempttodefame him
and impede hisappointmentasambassador.The court decidedinfavourof Siddiqui.
