This is the fire that is going to continue to burn strong long after
completion of this Own Your Health course.
This week, we are going to be working through 3 exercises to help you find
your fire. These exercises will really help you figure out what it is that you
want out of life.

4. You’ll be creating your very own Life Balance Wheel to bring it all
together!
The Life Balance Wheel was inspired by the “Wheel of Life” exercise,
which was created back in 1960 by self-development coach Paul
Meyer.
This first exercise will give you a BIG-picture look at your life, and
then help you discover ways to make it even MORE powerful!
Identify the different parts of your life that have meaning for you
Pinpoint how well you’re doing in each of those areas
Create a plan to bring it all into balance

This Wheel of Life Exercise Will Help You:
5. Visualize a bicycle wheel, forming a perfect circle.
As long as those spokes (the long metal supports in the center) supporting
the tire stay strong and balanced, the wheel keeps on turning, and you get
where you want to go!
If one or two are broken or bent, you're in for a bumpy ride! It'll take a lot
more effort and energy to get where you want to go, plus you'll end up
doing damage to the tire over time.
Now imagine that those spokes represent different areas of your life.
(Your health, relationships, spiritual practice, finances, FUN, and the list
goes on.) The more balanced those areas are, the more balanced YOU feel!
When those spokes are in sync, everything flows a little more smoothly,
you’re more resilient, and life is a lot more fun and a lot less stressful.

6. On a practical level, when some areas in your life aren’t getting the
attention they deserve, you can feel stressed, unfulfilled, unhappy, out of
control – and maybe even a little lost.
Finding that “just right” balance for your life can help you achieve your
goals faster AND feel more fulfilled.
There are seasons for everything, and you won't always have a perfect
balance across the board... but you DO want to make sure that you pay
enough attention to the key areas in your life to keep that wheel moving
effortlessly and in the right direction!
It is helpful to set intentions in the areas of your life where you’re
feeling dissatisfied.

7. Like I mentioned earlier, it would be nearly impossible to have ALL your
Life Balance Wheel spokes perfectly balanced, all of the time!
This is because, throughout different times in your life, you will have
different strengths, goals, and priorities.
For example, it’s natural at different periods in your life to be focused on:
Achieving a health/fitness goal, like training for a triathlon!
Building new relationships
Adjusting to life as a parent
Climbing the ladder in your career
Saving to pay off student debt or buy a home

8. Your wheel can also get out-of-balance because of your natural
strengths, your likes and dislikes, and even your fears!
Many of us put extra energy into the things we're great at or that make
us feel good.
We can even take certain things for granted. For example...
When your Life Balance Wheel is out of whack for too long, that’s when
things start to become a real problem.
You might not even realize how out-of-balance you actually are until
you take inventory of where you’re at!
Your home might be spotlessly organized because it makes you feel
relaxed, while your FUN and leisure category could use some
attention!
Your financial situation might be a mystery to you... so you avoid it,
and instead focus on your hobbies.
You’ve never had a health problem, so self-care seems like a foreign
concept, and you put that energy into your social life or work.
Balance is a Process, Not a Goal!

9. Think about all the different aspects of YOUR daily life: your health and
fitness, your interests, your relationships, and your emotional / spiritual
/ physical needs.

11. STEP 1
Write each category on your Life Balance Wheel. (previous page)
STEP 2
Give yourself a score for the amount of satisfaction / happiness you
currently have in each area. (A score of 10 = high, 5 = average, 1 = low.)
If you’re like a lot of people, this number can feel pretty subjective. For
example, if you are facing a hard deadline at work, your satisfaction might
be lower than normal!
Or if you’ve just gotten a great review, that number might be extra high
right now!
Try to come up with a number that fits your general, overall feelings about
how satisfied you are in each category.
Mark each score on the line of your Life Balance Wheel.
STEP 3
Once you’ve given yourself a score in each area, you will quickly be able to
see the areas where you're doing well, and which ones need a little more of
your attention. Put a star next to those categories.
STEP 4
Now that you've taken inventory, it’s time to get practical!
ASK YOURSELF: How can you improve the areas with a lower score? What
is ONE thing you can do to take action TODAY to improve your numbers?

13. Finding more ways to socialize and meet new people
Searching online for a new personal growth course or class
Volunteering at a local organization that needs more help
Signing up for a new health & fitness program to get yourself back
on track and feeling great!
Making yourself invaluable at work so you feel more stability
Setting aside time to meditate or pray each day
Or anything else you can think of!
STEP 5
Put your plan into action to bring up those scores and bring more
fulfillment and happiness to your life! This WILL be fun! Depending on
which areas you want to improve, it could include:

Reset and revise!
Remember: your Life Balance Wheel is always turning and changing. It
will evolve over time, based on what’s happening in your life and on
your shifting priorities.
(New baby, starting a business, your health or health of a loved one,
changes in your relationships, your goals, etc.!)
That’s why it is a good idea to revisit your Life Balance Wheel every six
months or so, to see how you’re doing and update your numbers.

A map or a GPS to get you to where you want to go…
If you were to travel across the country, you would need:
Just like planning a cross-country adventure, when it comes to health and fitness, you also
need to have an exact plan to get you to where you are going.
In this analogy - the map - the HOW to get there are our Habits for Massive Impact. We
KNOW that if you execute on these healthy habits consistently over time, you will get to
where you want to go in terms of health and fitness. NO QUESTIONS.
Just like following a GPS across the country - if you follow the directions, you will get from
point A to point B in the quickest route possible.
The FUEL in this analogy is all of your motivating reasons WHY you want to get there. Your
FUEL is the motivating reasons WHY following the GPS is important to you.
And the vehicle - that is your body, your mindset, and your physical being.

16. I believe my possibilities are limitless when I am healthy and strong
I want to have the energy to fully engage in life

I want to be able to play like a kid with my kids

Life is too short not to feel really good
If you don’t have enough FUEL (a strong enough WHY) you might make
it halfway across the country and decide to turn back because you forgot
what you were driving towards.
Not having a strong enough WHY is where 99% of people fall off in the
pursuit of their health and fitness goals.
Most people don’t take the time to truly create enough good reasons to
succeed.
But not you my friend - you are here today and TODAY we are focusing
on your WHY map and setting your goals with SOUL.
Everyone’s WHY is going to be different. I will share with you mine:

For some people, it will be to have the energy, health, and vitality to be
the best parent possible for their children. For others, it will be to live
life without any limitations - to climb mountains, to enjoy the great
outdoors, and to ENJOY every adventure.

How do you want to improve your health and fitness in the next 90 days?
How do you want your body to look and feel in the next 90 days? Make it a
positive “I will statement.” For example (use this if it resonates with you):

healthy habits. I will have incredible motivation to keep on this journey. I
will have mental clarity. I won't stress as much. I will be inspired. I will

In the past, when I created health and fitness goals, the obstacles that have
gotten in my way are as follows... AND this is how I am going to overcome
those obstacles when they present this time. (So - think about the things
that are coming up for you as obstacles in this program and brainstorm
ways around those obstacles. EX: One of the obstacles that would get in my
way would be not prioritizing my health and fitness. I put everyone else
before myself, so when someone needs something - I don't follow through

23. I am confident that we have all set goals in the past that we have not
achieved.
Maybe our attention got pulled in a different direction, maybe the goal
didn’t seem as important to us to achieve after we set it, or maybe we set
out guns-a-blazing to achieve our goals but fell short because after
months of grinding it out, we got frustrated because of lack of results…
Making a massive change in our lives is difficult… It is not easy to change
habits that have shaped our lifestyle for the last 10, 20, 30, 40, or 50 years.
We are creatures of habit. We are what we repeatedly do…
That is why… 25% of people actually give up their New Year’s Resolutions
after just 1 WEEK!!! And 60% of people give up their New Year’s
Resolutions after 6 months!!! And - only 8% of people who set New Year’s
Resolutions keep them throughout the year.

24. In the first part of this lesson, you mapped our your WHY - you are
already ahead of the curve!
Goals that matter are much more compelling to achieve.
With all of this clarity and direction, it is MUCH easier to know the
actions and the steps needed to achieve your goals…
And - you have a plan - you know the Habits for Massive Impact are the
foundation of your healthy lifestyle - now and forever.
Without a plan, we just drift along, hoping that something that we’re
doing will get us where we are trying to go.
Today, we are going to cover the following:
- One strategy that will make you 42% more likely to accomplish your
goals!
- We are going to cover how to Quit-Proof your goals so you can finally
be confident that this lifestyle is something you can stick to for the rest
of your life.
- We’re going to make sure you know the simple goal-setting principle
that will help you to stop procrastinating and to start taking massive
action.
- AND what steps you need to take to start accomplishing the things that
matter most to you.
It is so interesting… most people know about the power of written goals.
Throughout our elementary education, we are taught that when you
write down goals, you are significantly more likely to achieve them.

25. STRATEGY #1
Keep your goals few in number… Strive to be working on 7-10
goals at any given time. Psychologists say that you cannot
focus on more than 7-10 things at any one time. This should
be balanced throughout your life, too. You should have work
goals, personal goals, self-care goals, etc. Again, keep them
few in number and make sure you are focusing on those that
are MOST important to you.
STRATEGY #2
Your goals should be EXCITING – this is the good stuff. Your
goal has to be compelling! Every time you look at your goal or
think about your goal, it should elicit some sort of emotion
that you get excited about. It can’t be something that is so
incremental or something that someone else wants you to do.
It has to be something that is exciting to you personally.

Relevant - your goals have to be relevant to where you are in
your life and to what season you are in life and to your
interests.

Write down your goals! You are 42% more likely to achieve your
goals if you write them down. Bonus points if you write them
down every single day.
STRATEGY#5
Reviewing your goals frequently will help you internalize them
better. That way, when you are presented with a difficult
decision, you will automatically think about your goals and make
a decision based on whether or not it is going to get you closer or
further away from your goal.
STRATEGY#6
Share your goals selectively with people that will help support
you AND with people that will hold you accountable.
It is important to have someone that you feel safe in sharing your
goals with - it could be your spouse, a friend, or US… someone
that is going to be sympathetic but to also call you out if you start
making excuses… not to nag, but to help keep you aligned with
your goals. Someone to help keep you encouraged.
