How are the circumstances similar or different for the characters Adam and the creature?
Adam and the creature both have confusion on their identity and their place in life. Also they
both question why they were created. Adam questions god why he created him just like the
creature questions Victor on why he created him. Victor and God both created a being with no
relation or tie to anyone else. God created Adam as an image of himself, a normal looking
human but God also aided and watched over Adam. unlike Victor who created this hideous
creature that he was so disgusted by him, he abandoned the creature.
The definition of Philosophical is “relating or devoted to the study of the fundamental
nature of knowledge, reality, and existence”. The issues of philosophy that Adam and the
creature raise is that they both question their existence and knowledge. The creature teaches
himself. If it be the nature of man or just simple words by reading. He thinks about why he was
created, what was is roll. Why he is rejected by society.Which causes him to live in the woods
and get away from everyone else.
The creature cannot be seen as “wrong”. He is almost all but “right”. He did not ask to be
created. He was created to be this hideous being, cast out onto his own. Being rejected by
everyone, even by his creator. Even though the creature has done things he shouldn't have. He
was not taught right from wrong. Adam could be wrong “wrong”. God created him to be perfect,
an image of himself. God did not abandon him. Instead he helped Adam and watched over him.
But Adam still did wrong.
There are parallels to the text from my own relationship with my own parents. No child is
ever asked to be born. Aside from the fact I love my life and parents. God created Adam and
watched over and aided him but Adam still did wrong. Just as my parents raised me. Helping me
every step of the way. Teaching me right from wrong, and I still did things I shouldn't have.
There are also parallels from the text to other parent/child relationships. Some parents arent fit to
riase children or they just don't want anything to do with their children. Just like victor created
frankenstein and abandoned him.
