2. Last minute packing
Not all packing can be done well in advance; make sure to pack a bag of
essentials such as a toothbrush, toilet paper and clean underwear!

Notify friends and family
Call, text and email loved ones to notify them of your new address.
Check you have all the keys to your new home (or will be getting them!)
You'll need all the keys and spare sets for the property, including those
for windows or garden sheds.
Start cleaning
Time to get your old home clean, either do it yourself or book a
professional cleaner to blitz the property on moving day.
Keep important documents safe
Ensure to keep your birth certificates, passports etc. safe and secure
throughout the move.
Take meter readings
Take the final readings from your old home and your initial readings
from your new one.

Familiarise yourself with the essentials
Locate your new properties stopcock, gas and electric meters, fuse box
and thermostat.
Test the property
Check the boiler works. That the taps, the shower, the drains are not
blocked and that all the windows and doors close and lock properly.
