2. Session Brief
Today's session was by B. Ali Sabrin Sir, the District Youth Coordinator of Nehru
Yuva Kendra and the topic was ‘ The Aims & Objectives of Virtual Internship
and about us: NYKS/NSS/NCC/SYWB/YC/BS&G ’. He gave us an introduction to
Nehru Yuva Kendra, its history, structure & functions and outlined our
internship’s schedule, objectives & rules. The session started at 18:00 and
continued till 19:30.
Though it was an informative session, the session started by stating a
relatable, funny experience. He gave us information on the 7 government
youth organizations such as Nehru Yuva Kendra, NSS, NCC, Bharath Scouts
and Guides etc. Nehru Yuva Kendra and NSS are under the Ministry of Youth
Affairs and Sports and the goals of both are almost the same but they work at
different levels. NSS focuses on the student youth of schools and colleges,
whereas Nehru Yuva Kendra aims on utilizing the youth to take part in nation
building activities as well as providing developmental opportunities for them.
For every district there is one NYK office.
He also informed us about the affiliation of youth clubs with NYK and how it
leads to the nation building process and thereby strengthening national
integration. Information and experiences on Nation Integration camps were
also told.
Then he talked about the problems that we might face during this online
internship. The rules and regulations to be followed were also mentioned.
Then he briefed the schedule and structure of our internship and talked about
the possible outcomes of this training. He emphasised on the importance of
interaction for this 30 day internship. The process of report writing and its
format were also informed. The session concluded at 19:30.
3. Learning Outcomes, Comments & Suggestions
The session was engaging and informative. I learnt about NYK and about its
objectives, structures and aims. The friendly way of talking and presenting
made this session more engaging and beautiful. The briefing of the internship
schedule and rules were very useful as it helped me to plan the month and to
perform my level best in the internship. The do’s and don'ts were useful and
will be helpful in maintaining the authenticity and perfection of this internship.
What impressed me most was the friendly and engaging ways in which the
topics were presented. Anticipating to attend more sessions in the future.
