2. Can Dogs Eat Peanut Butter?
So, can dogs eat peanut butter? Can we share peanut-based food with
pets or should we avoid it? Fret not as the answer to the question is a
yes. Peanut butter for dogs is generally a safe food. As a matter of fact, it
even contains more vitamins, proteins, and healthy fats as long as you
stick to the all-natural peanut butter without the addition of excess salt or
sugar since it is healthier.
The peanut butter is one of your dog’s favorite, hence, you need to be careful when
you feed them with it as their over excitement can lead to accidents. Be careful when
you feed your dog using spoons, as they can sometimes accidentally gulped down
the spoon too! Dog owners who have a dog that go crazy for this creamy delight can
attest to the fact that dogs are indeed too over board when it comes to this certain
kind of food.
As we all know, peanut butter comes in a lot of different forms such as the plain
creamy or the crunchy one. So what will you choose to give your dog then? I
strongly recommend that you go for the plain creamy as the chunky peanut butter
can actually be a choking hazard for your dog, most especially for your puppies.
Though it is one of the best treats, peanut butter for dogs can also have some bad
reactions. Just like humans, our dogs also have some allergies to peanuts. Hence,
you need to ensure that your dog is not allergic to this creamy delight before giving it
to him to avoid hypersensitivity reactions.
Sometimes, you may also be surprise to see that your dog develops the allergy even
when he did not have it previously, this is because of the fact that dog peanut
allergies can develop over time. When you feel and see symptoms of dog allergies, it
is best that you consult a veterinary immediately for proper treatments.
Peanut butter is also one of the ways for your dog to drink down a medicine. They
love peanut butter, but they definitely hate medicines. Hence, most dog owners trick
their dogs to drink the medicine by hiding them inside the peanut butter that their
dogs will eat up unnoticed.

Homemade Peanut Butter Dog Treats
When it comes to dog training, peanut butter dog treats are also used as a reward for
your pooches. Once they do something great or if they are following certain
instructions, they sometimes find it boring to get the same old dog biscuits every
time. Hence, in order to spice things up and keep them very much interested, a
peanut butter dog treat can always be the key.
Saying such, it is very important that we provide our dogs what they really need, and
that is to give them peanut butter dog treats that will enhance their appetite. You do
not need to purchase these peanut butter dog treats at all since you can just make
them personally with a touch of your own love and recipe. If you do not know how to
make a peanut butter dog treat for your dog, simply follow these instructions and
you will be able to provide your dog the best peanut butter treats in the world.
Ingredients:
1 tbsp baking powder
1 egg
1 cup of creamy peanut butter
2 ¼ to 2 ½ cups of whole wheat flour
¾ cup of nonfat milk
How To Prepare The Peanut Butter Dog Treat?
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 325°.
Step 2: Using a large mixing bowl, combine the milk, egg and peanut butter and
mix thoroughly.
Step 3: Put in the whole wheat flour and the baking powder to make the dough
stiff. Use your hands to work on it if necessary.
Step 4: Roll out the dough in a ¼ inch thickness on a floured work surface and cut
into desirable sizes depending on the size your dog wants and usually eats.
Step 5: Place them on a parchment-lined baking tray, and bake on the pre-heated
oven at 325° for 20 minutes.
Step 6: Turn the dog treats over and bake for another 15 minutes on the
opposite side.
Step 7: Once the peanut butter dog treats are baked, remove it from the oven
and let it cool down. Store in an airtight container to ensure that it will maintain its
edibility. You may also choose to store it inside the freezer, by doing so, it will last
up to 3 months.
Since we have already discussed that peanut butters are a typical favorite food choice
of your canines, there is one important thing that we need to keep in mind before
giving this to them. This one very important thing will really save your dog big time if
you keep this in mind. Always remember that not all peanut butters in the market
nowadays are safe since some of them contain a substitute to sugar.
If you can remember earlier on this article, you should choose peanut butter with
natural salt or sugar. Hence, you really need to look out for the ingredient label before
buying one since some peanut butters contain a sugar substitute called xylitol.

If you can remember earlier on this article, you should choose peanut butter with

buying one since some peanut butters contain a sugar substitute called xylitol.
Xylitol is actually safe and very beneficial for humans considering that it is good for
people with diabetes as well as helps in the prevention of cavities and tooth decay.
But then again, it is the other way around with dogs as even a small amount of xylitol
will cause your dog’s liver cell to be destructed and can lead to life threatening
situations.
