Ladybugs go through four life stages: eggs hatch into larvae that molt and grow, then form a pupa and emerge as adult ladybugs. They lay eggs on leaves that hatch within a week, and the pupa stage lasts around a week before emerging as the spotted adult ladybugs. There are over 5,000 species of ladybugs.
