Adele Performs
NORMAL, Ill. — Adele performed at Illinois State University on Friday at 8 p.m. in the Redbird
Arena.
“Adele is my idol, so having the opportunity to watch her perform at my own school was
incredible,” said ISU junior and music major Stephanie Phillips.
This was the attitude of most ISU students, so when tickets went on sale on Jan. 1 the
show was sold out.
Christina Perri opened the show at 7 p.m. with the song “A Thousand Years” and
continued performing for one hour while Adele’s performance ran for three hours. Adele had
four costume changes throughout the entire performance. Each had a theme to the set of songs
she was singing.
Adele made many girls in the audience cry by singing one of her singles “Someone Like
You.”
“It was like listening to my heartbreak all over again,” said sophomore Brooke Smith.
At 8:50 p.m., fan Jackie Jones attempted to rush the stage in the middle of her singing her
hit “Rolling In The Deep.” Additional security was called to restrain Jones. Jones was arrested
and was found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.145. She was released from police custody
and is now awaiting trial.
The concert continued without interruption and concluded around 11:20 p.m. The
concert caused many Illinois State University students to become fans.
“I haven’t really listened to Adele in the past, but after hearing her concert I’m going to
start,” said freshman Ashley Schmit.
The students said they hope Adele comes back for another concert soon.
