 The economy of Pakistan is the 24thlargest.
 Pakistan is the world's 5th-largest nation,
giving it a nominal GDP per capita of $1,357
in 2019.
 Per capita income of Rs 5,839.
 132th in the world for 2019.

5. Importance of health care
Improve access to quality health care services.
Reducing disability and premature death, and
achieving good health for all Citizens.
Prevent illness by promoting healthy behaviors
in people without risk factors e.g Diet and
exercise counseling.

6. Life expectancy in Pakistan
According WHO data life expectancy in
Pakistan is Male 65.7, female 67.4 and total life
expectancy is 66.5 which gives Pakistan a
World Life Expectancy ranking of 133.

 Federal government, provincial government
and private institutions make health structure.
 Total health budget is 2.6-3% of total Gdp.
 48 medical colleges and 21 dental colleges in
the country.

Infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS,
tuberculosis, malaria, polio, are easily spread
through personal contact, water, and air.

 Dengue fever has been affecting people since
2010. Dengue is a viral infection which is caused

 Cancer is another deadly disease that is one of
the leading causes of deaths in Pakistan.

 More than 7 million people are suffering from diabetes
in Pakistan right now. Lack of nutritious food and
awareness is increasing the number of diabetic patients
in the country.

 Due to lack of money, people with hypertension
don’t seek medical treatment. Hypertension.

 Around 7% of Pakistan’s population is suffering
from asthma and the percentage is expected to
increase in coming years. Decrease in Air quality
is a major factor.

Total 23 teaching and 36 Dhq hospitals in PUNJAB but only 6
of them have burns units, 2 are not functioning properly.
4 public hospitals in Sindh have burns wards.
4 public hospitals in Kpk have burn wards.
1 public hospital in Baluchistan have burn ward.
“Burn treatment is expensive. Costs Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 50,000
per day,

 Pakistan has a "huge potential" in becoming a
regional medical tourism hub.
 Pakistan could offer services to foreigners in
orthopedic, optometric, ENT, heart, and
urology treatments at cheap rates besides
offering facilities in endoscopies, X-rays, MRI,
CT scan, cardiology.

volume pharmaceutical formulation units

2013.

quality more health problems are increasing.
 Pakistan’s forest cover has fallen to 2%,
against a required 25%.
 Pakistan stands at no 7 in the list of
vulnerable countries on climate change.
