This document summarizes a case study of a musician named Maya who suffered from trembling hands when performing in front of audiences due to stress and low self-esteem. The therapist Michal Shahar helped Maya apply breathing techniques before performances to relieve stress in her body. During her next performance in front of 450 people, Maya's hands stopped trembling and she was able to fully express herself musically. Michal Shahar explains that this is an example of how she helps musicians overcome personal crises that interfere with their music through reconnecting them to their original love of music.
1. Case study:
Her music teacher had almost given up on her. Each time she was due to play in
frontof an audience, her hands trembled. Months of practice, investment and
music lessons… came to nothing.
All Maya had to do was to breathe into the point of stress within her body, before
and while playing – as if applying first aid; as if she were hugging and affirming her
love for herself, even under stress.
Her hands wereimmediately relieved of their burden. That evening, in frontof an
audience of 450 people, Maya could not recognizeher playing. Not only did her
hands stop trembling, but all of the emotional power and all of her preparations
towards the event were also given a free and flowing expression. Theaudience
was moved to tears, especially her teacher, whosejaw dropped during the
performance.
This is one of many stories of the “firstaid” that Negia provides to musicians,
when their emotional state influences their muscles and prevents them from fully
expressing their genuine creativity. This is my life’s work.
My name is Michal Shahar, and I am a musician, piano teacher, healing singing
teacher, singer, flutist and keyboardistin the Evergreen band, and a qualified
therapist of The Journey.
2. My story reveals how my journey to overcomea personalcrisis led me to become
a therapist for musicians struggling with their own. I help them to connect back to
their original love for music, which has dissipated over the years or become
intertwined with the unwelcomeovertones of low self-esteem, never-ending
stress and the endless need to provethemselves.
I will be glad to explain in further detail and extend my help to other musicians in
the field.
This rareknowledgecomes as the result of a life research that can assist
musicians, artists, and every person in their own territory of interest.
