Michael Rathbun Syracuse: Syracuse football Victory
1. Syracuse Football Victory, Greatest since
1983.
Syracuse University has always been known for their athletics, whether it’s
basketball, football, lacrosse or any other sport you can think of, Syracuse is always
a threat.
In 1983, Syracuse was able to beat the number 13 ranked Eagles 21-10.
The victory Syracuse had over Boston College was another massive comeback. This
comeback was a real gauge of the resilience of coach Scott Schafer’s football team.
One of the keys to the victory was the play of the quarterback Terrel Hunt. He was
throwing the ball well instead of only relying on a running game or short tosses. Hunt
also racked up a total of 90 rushing yards throughout the course of the game. This
made him a deadly force for boston college to deal with.
The defence of the Syracuse football team was led by Marquis Spruill. He was
injured with a major stinger in the previous game against Pitt. However he was able
to make it back into the game. Marquis said “I wasn’t going to let Boston College
take away the last half of my last game in the Dome.” This quote, as well as his
willingness to finish the game after an injury really says a great deal about the senior
linebacker and his commitment to this team.
Syracuse is hoping to round out their year with a 7-5 season. With players like Terrel
Hunt and Marquis Spruill, it makes a whole lot of sense that the team is optimistic
about receiving those results. Syracuse is hoping to make it to a Bowl, and if they do
they have a team ready to put up quite a fight.
