Croatia
Ante Cacic was happy to see Mandzukic and Modric in shape for
this game, after the 2 stars missed the last game in the stage
group against Spain
In the middle Modric and Badelj keep their dynamic and worked
really well controling the counter attacs of Portugal.
In the back Strinic didn’t get many chances to attack, but in the
right, Srna was in great shape and played really well both
attaking and defending.
Upfront, Mandzukic struggled against Pepe and Fonte, and it was
clear he wasn’t 100%.
Perisic, Rakitic and Brozovic, gave the pace the team needed.
Rakitic was well marked by the portuguese midfield and when
Renato Sanches got in the game, Rakitic suffered with his
agressivity.

Croatia shoted a lot, but most of the shots were from outside the
box. This shows some lack of accuracy, wit 17 shots and only 2
were on goal.
Perisic, usually coming from behind and taking advantage of the
1-on-1 situations was the man who shooted the most with 7
shots.
Madzukic, the biggest reference in the attack, only shot twice,
revealing the struggled he had against the portuguese center

Portugal
Fernando Santos made 3 changes in Portugal team. 2 of them,
were debuts in this Euro – Adrien Silva (midfielder) and Cédric
Soares (right back).
Portugal opted to maintain the dynamic that Nani and Ronaldo
revealed agains Hungary and were both in the line up, relegating
Quaresma for the bench.
In the middle, Adrien Silva replaced João Moutinho due to
physical condition. This change gave Portugal more physical
hability to face a strong Croatia.
In the back, Cédric replaced Vieirinha. Cédic doesn’t attack as
much as Vieirinha, but has more consistancy on the defensive
process.
In the left, Raphael Guerreiro started the game, after missing

Shots
Dynamics
Portugal had some problems in the offensive process. This
revealed a low shooting number with only 4 shots the entire
game.
This is due specially to Ronaldo, lost between the defenders,
didn’t was so influent has he usually is in the last third.
With Renato on pitch, Portugal get closer to the opponents area,
but with few players they didn’t get many chances to trouble
Subasic.

Set Play
Dynamics
João Mário takes the corners as well as Ricardo Quaresma.
Although Portugal benefit from 30 corners in the stage group (19
average), in this game only benefit from 2, revelaing the struggle
to reach the goal of Croatia.
Raphael from the left and João Mário from the right, were
choosen to take the Indirect Free Kicks.
The targets were Pepe, José Fonte and Ronaldo.
Choosing the center of the area to put the ball, Portugal were
trying to creat the doubt between the defenders and the
goalkeeper, and take advantage of some comunication mistake.

The Goal
Portugal
The counter attack worked really well, taking advantage of the
space in the middle, with Renato taking the ball to the last third.
There he fixed the defender perfectly and puts the ball on the left
for Nani.
Quaresma and Ronaldo were clever enought to understand the
importance of the opposite side of the ball, as the ball was
crossed they’re already there and Ronaldo first and Quaresma
later made the winning goal for Portugal
