Saltwater Woodworks offers custom wood furnishings created using old world craftsmanship techniques combined with modern methods. The business was originally focused on custom cabinetry but expanded under new ownership to include kitchen cabinetry, flooring, and repurposed furniture. Saltwater Woodworks utilizes reclaimed wood and works with craftspeople specializing in reclaimed materials to create unique pieces that transform discarded wood into artistic designs. A visit feels more like browsing an art gallery than a typical shopping experience.

Saltwater Woodworks offers
custom funishings that are
the perfect blend of old world
craftsmanship with some of
today’s modern techniques with
stunning results.
Opened in 2001 by Matt Sullivan,
the early focus of the business
was almost exclusively on
custom-made, built-in cabinetry
and furniture. Four years ago,
Sullivan decided to team up with
builder Charles Hunt,—a move
that expanded the company’s
offerings.
While Saltwater Woodworks
continues to specialize in
custom furniture and built-in
cabinetry, it also offers custom
kitchen cabinetry, flooring, and
repurposed furniture. Sullivan
heads up the business’s custom
kitchen cabinetry, which he says,
includes reclaimed wood options.
“I once did an entire kitchen made
from reclaimed wood. It’s what the
customer wanted,” he says.
With interior designer Nancy
August on staff and talented
craftsmen such as John Giacobbi,
a reclaimed wood expert, and Ed
Soltesz, owner of Forge and Forest
Creations, showing his one-of-a-
kind designs in the store, Saltwater
Woodworks is quickly establishing
its own identity and finding its
niche in the industry. Built on a
Yankee philosophy to never waste
that which can be used again, the
store has some incredible designs,
including a fabulous Redwood
table salvaged from the forest fires
in California and a charming wine
rack with an old metal rake that
serves as a wine glass holder. A
stop at Saltwater Woodworks feels
a bit like a visit to an art gallery.
Whether you are renovating
a kitchen, or are in need of a
custom-made table, or are looking
for unique piece to complete a
room, Saltwater Woodworks on
Main Street in Falmouth is a must
stop.
