The Lincoln University Board of Trustees named Dr. Richard Green to serve as
interim president of the university. Dr. Green will lead the university as it
continues to address issues and opportunities that have characterized it as a
leader in the offering of quality higher education programs to meet the
needs of its students.
"The Board of Trustees is confident that the skill-sets Dr. Green brings with
him, as a result of his experience in higher education, will ensure that The
Lincoln University is able to move, both effectively and efficiently, through its
third century providing educational excellence for this great institution," said
Kimberly A. Lloyd ’94, Chairman of the Board.
Previously, Dr. Green served as interim provost of St. Cloud State University
in St. Cloud, Minnesota, from June 2014 to June 2015 while the university
conducted its search for a provost. Prior to that, he held other interim posi-
tions at Albany State University in Georgia, National Louis University in Illi-
nois, Alcorn State University in Mississippi and Midland Lutheran College in
Nebraska. He was also Assistant to the President at the State University of New York College at Buffalo, New York.
Over the years, Dr. Green also served in numerous other university leadership posts, including president of Jefferson Community
College in Kentucky and interim president of Metropolitan State University in Minnesota and acting president at Midland Lutheran
College. In addition, he has held faculty and teaching positions at Metropolitan State University, University of Massachusetts at
Amherst, Concordia College at Moorhead, Minnesota, University of Louisville, Kentucky State University and North Dakota State
University. In addition to his appointments in higher education, he also served as Assistant to the President and CEO at Honeywell
Inc. and as Director of Executive Education for the company.
Dr. Green earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Concordia College, a master’s degree in physical chemistry from North
Dakota State University and his doctorate in inorganic chemistry from the University of Louisville. He also is a graduate of the Har-
vard University Institute of Educational Management.
Dr. Green will be joined by his wife, Dr. Dorothy Green. They are parents of two adult children, Kim and Richard, and are very
proud of their three grandchildren.
2016-17 LINCOLN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Darrell Mosley was named Head Women's Basketball Coach heading
into the 2015-16 season. He previously served as an assistant coach
on The Lincoln University Men’s Basketball staff for five seasons.
The Lions had their first 20 win season as a Division II institution dur-
ing the 2013-14 season. When competing in Manuel Rivera Hall they
were at their best compiling a record of 13-2. The team finished the
season with a 20-9 record which included a 10-6 CIAA campaign. A
senior driven squad capped their 2013-14 season by winning the
2014 ECAC Men’s Basketball Tournament Championship in Fairfield,
CT. After a close 71-68 victory in the semifinal round over Dominican
University, the Lions notched their 20th win of the season defeating
Caldwell University 65-49 in the championship game.
During the 2012 - 2013 season, Lincoln experienced a 30 per-
cent increase in success by netting a record of 17-10 and becoming
the CIAA Northern Division Conference Champions. Additionally,
Mosley's top recruit, Kenny Sharp, earned First Team All-Conference.
Being predicted to finish fifth in conference, Lincoln further exceeded
expectations finishing first in the division and earning a first-round
bye in the CIAA Conference Tournament.
For the 2011 - 2012 season, Mosley took over all responsibilities of the full-time assistant by adding the duties of recruiting, pre-
season and post-season workouts, and conditioning. Mosley became more hands on with team travel and expenses as well as aca-
demic development. Mosley assisted with the remarkable turn around in the program who ended the season 11-18 and seeing a
25% increase in success from the previous season. Additionally, his protégé Denzel Mooney won his second consecutive 1st Team
All Conference award for his senior year. Behind Mooney, Mosley's junior recruit, Kenny Sharp, was the second-leading scorer on
the team.
In the fall of 2010, Mosley returned to complete his final semester as a student-assistant coach, where his responsibilities include
skill and development, scouting reports, pre-practice, watching film, strength and condition, player personnel, monitor study hall
and game strategy. Current junior Denzel Mooney saw a drastic improvement in his productivity while being mentored by Mosley
and went from averaging 5 ppg as a sophomore to 21 ppg for his Junior year and winning 1st Team All Conference recognition.
Mosley, who was born and raised in Chester, Pa., and attended Chester High School, is a former member of the Lincoln University
basketball team. He attended Delaware State University and helped guide the team to a conference title and played in the NIT
against West Virginia. After his sophomore season, Mosley transferred to Lincoln University and was the starting point guard, as
well as being named team captain.
After his senior season, Mosley earned the Small College Award by the coaches. During the following summer, Mosley worked sev-
eral camps and coached high school summer leagues, along with AAU basketball. That same summer, Mosley joined an organiza-
tion called FIDONCE owned by NBA player Tyreke Evans. He spent time coaching and did sports training and skill development.

Head Men’s Basketball Coach Doug Overton. Coach Overton
is a Philadelphia Basketball legend. A graduate of Dobbins
Technical High-school - he went on to star at LaSalle Universi-
ty where he scored more than 1700 points and earned a place
not only in the LaSalle University Hall of Athletes but also the
Big Five and Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. After a stellar
collegiate career which included leading his team to three
NCAA appearances he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in
Elementary/Special Education. Doug Overton was drafted by
the Detroit Pistons in 1992 and had a 12 year career playing
for a number of teams including the Washington Wizards and
Philadelphia 76ers. After his playing career finished Coach
Overton was the first retired player to enter the NBA Assis-
tant Coaches Program.
His coaching career includes stints with the NBA Basketball without Borders program in Beijing, China, Nike
Skills Academy and time coaching youth in Barcelona, Spain and Australia. Throughout his playing career and
to this day Coach Overton kept his roots in Philadelphia and continued to give back. He created the DOBC
better known as the Doug Overton Basketball Camp in 1992. This camp is the longest consecutively run free
basketball camp for inner city youth in Philadelphia history. He is also the founder of the “ No Opponent Bas-
ketball Academy” a program designed to help students ages 6-17 develop life and basketball skills within the
Philadelphia tristate area.
After working with Head Coach Phil Martelli at St Joseph University, Doug Overton is now ready to take the
helm of his own program. He brings to Lincoln University the knowledge and experience that can only be
gained by someone who has lived the dream that many who come to Lincoln have. His story will resonate
with not only our basketball players but also the young men and women who come to Lincoln University
from Philadelphia with a dream and hopes of improving their lives.

  • 4. 2016-17 LINCOLN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL Darrell Mosley was named Head Women's Basketball Coach heading into the 2015-16 season. He previously served as an assistant coach on The Lincoln University Men’s Basketball staff for five seasons. The Lions had their first 20 win season as a Division II institution dur- ing the 2013-14 season. When competing in Manuel Rivera Hall they were at their best compiling a record of 13-2. The team finished the season with a 20-9 record which included a 10-6 CIAA campaign. A senior driven squad capped their 2013-14 season by winning the 2014 ECAC Men’s Basketball Tournament Championship in Fairfield, CT. After a close 71-68 victory in the semifinal round over Dominican University, the Lions notched their 20th win of the season defeating Caldwell University 65-49 in the championship game. During the 2012 - 2013 season, Lincoln experienced a 30 per- cent increase in success by netting a record of 17-10 and becoming the CIAA Northern Division Conference Champions. Additionally, Mosley's top recruit, Kenny Sharp, earned First Team All-Conference. Being predicted to finish fifth in conference, Lincoln further exceeded expectations finishing first in the division and earning a first-round bye in the CIAA Conference Tournament. For the 2011 - 2012 season, Mosley took over all responsibilities of the full-time assistant by adding the duties of recruiting, pre- season and post-season workouts, and conditioning. Mosley became more hands on with team travel and expenses as well as aca- demic development. Mosley assisted with the remarkable turn around in the program who ended the season 11-18 and seeing a 25% increase in success from the previous season. Additionally, his protégé Denzel Mooney won his second consecutive 1st Team All Conference award for his senior year. Behind Mooney, Mosley's junior recruit, Kenny Sharp, was the second-leading scorer on the team. In the fall of 2010, Mosley returned to complete his final semester as a student-assistant coach, where his responsibilities include skill and development, scouting reports, pre-practice, watching film, strength and condition, player personnel, monitor study hall and game strategy. Current junior Denzel Mooney saw a drastic improvement in his productivity while being mentored by Mosley and went from averaging 5 ppg as a sophomore to 21 ppg for his Junior year and winning 1st Team All Conference recognition. Mosley, who was born and raised in Chester, Pa., and attended Chester High School, is a former member of the Lincoln University basketball team. He attended Delaware State University and helped guide the team to a conference title and played in the NIT against West Virginia. After his sophomore season, Mosley transferred to Lincoln University and was the starting point guard, as well as being named team captain. After his senior season, Mosley earned the Small College Award by the coaches. During the following summer, Mosley worked sev- eral camps and coached high school summer leagues, along with AAU basketball. That same summer, Mosley joined an organiza- tion called FIDONCE owned by NBA player Tyreke Evans. He spent time coaching and did sports training and skill development.

  • 8. 2016-17 LINCOLN MEN’S BASKETBALL Head Men’s Basketball Coach Doug Overton. Coach Overton is a Philadelphia Basketball legend. A graduate of Dobbins Technical High-school - he went on to star at LaSalle Universi- ty where he scored more than 1700 points and earned a place not only in the LaSalle University Hall of Athletes but also the Big Five and Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. After a stellar collegiate career which included leading his team to three NCAA appearances he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary/Special Education. Doug Overton was drafted by the Detroit Pistons in 1992 and had a 12 year career playing for a number of teams including the Washington Wizards and Philadelphia 76ers. After his playing career finished Coach Overton was the first retired player to enter the NBA Assis- tant Coaches Program. His coaching career includes stints with the NBA Basketball without Borders program in Beijing, China, Nike Skills Academy and time coaching youth in Barcelona, Spain and Australia. Throughout his playing career and to this day Coach Overton kept his roots in Philadelphia and continued to give back. He created the DOBC better known as the Doug Overton Basketball Camp in 1992. This camp is the longest consecutively run free basketball camp for inner city youth in Philadelphia history. He is also the founder of the “ No Opponent Bas- ketball Academy” a program designed to help students ages 6-17 develop life and basketball skills within the Philadelphia tristate area. After working with Head Coach Phil Martelli at St Joseph University, Doug Overton is now ready to take the helm of his own program. He brings to Lincoln University the knowledge and experience that can only be gained by someone who has lived the dream that many who come to Lincoln have. His story will resonate with not only our basketball players but also the young men and women who come to Lincoln University from Philadelphia with a dream and hopes of improving their lives.
