September 30, 2023
O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart
of Mary I offer You all my prayers, works,
joys and sufferings, of this day in union
with the Holy sacrifice of the Mass
throughout the world. I offer them for
the intention of Your Sacred Heart the
salvation of soul, the reparation of sins
and the reunion of all Christians. I offer
them for the intentions of our bishops
and all the apostles of prayers and in
particular for the intentions of the Holy
Father. Amen.

3. 43B While they were all amazed at his every deed,
Jesus said to his disciples,
44 “Pay attention to what I am telling you. The Son
of Man is to be handed over to men.”
45 But they did not understand this saying; its
meaning was hidden from them so that they should
not understand it, and they were afraid to ask him
about this saying.

4. In life, there are many things that we don’t understand.
Unlike the disciples of Jesus, we should not be afraid to ask
the Lord. He is after our savior and He wanted us to be His
friends. In prayer, we can ask Him anything. Yet, we don’t
rush Him to answer us in black and white. We just have to be
patient. In due time, He will reveal to us the mysteries of our
existence. But if it is hidden and remains a mystery, then it is
not for us to know. Let us trust the divine wisdom. It knows
what we need to know for our successful journey to the
kingdom.

Medal
CLOSING
PRAYER
• Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, loving
Mother of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno, with
your mantle of protection, shield us from all
darkness and temptations so that we may bear
fruits in the service of God and country.
O’ Blessed Virgin Mary, bring us closer to the
heart of your Son to become faithful witnesses
of His gospel who respect the integrity of
others, are responsive to the needs of the
poor, and are responsible stewards of creation.
Like Saint Catherine Labourè, help us to know
our mission on earth. Pray for us that we may
become instruments of faith, hope, and
charity, as we dispose ourselves to His most
holy will. Amen.

”
5 Jesus said to his disciples: “Now I go to him that sent me, and none
of you asks me: Where are you going?
6 But because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow has filled
your hearts.
7 But I tell you the truth: it is expedient to you that I go: for if I do not
go, the Paraclete will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to
you
9. “
”
8 And when he comes, he will convict the world of sin, and of
justice, and of judgment.
9 Of sin: because they believed not in me.
10 And of justice: because I go to the Father; and you shall see
me no longer.
11 And of judgment: because the prince of this world is
already judged.

57 As Jesus and his disciples were proceeding on
their journey, someone said to him, “I will follow
you wherever you go.”
58 Jesus answered him, “Foxes have dens and birds
of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has
nowhere to rest his head.”
59 And to another he said, “Follow me.” But he
replied, “Lord, let me go first and bury my father.”
14. Presentation title 14
60 But he answered him, “Let the dead bury their
dead. But you, go and proclaim the Kingdom of
God.”
61 And another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but
first let me say farewell to my family at home.”
62 Jesus answered him, “No one who sets a hand to
the plow and looks to what was left behind is fit for
the Kingdom of God.”

was greatly perplexed because some were saying, “John has
been raised from the dead”;
8 others were saying, “Elijah has appeared”; still others, “One of
the ancient prophets has arisen.”
9 But Herod said, “John I beheaded. Who then is this about
whom I hear such things?” And he kept trying to see him.

Editor's Notes
In the gospel reading above, Jesus poured out His frustration with people such as the Pharisees and scribes who were critical of Him and John the Baptist. Although both of them lived their lives differently, the Pharisees and other religious authorities did not accept or listen to them.
As in the time of Jesus, the people in our age have different demands and responses to situations. They have different and sometimes opposing criteria in judging things and situations such that we can never please everybody. No matter what we do, people will always criticize us. Damn if you do, damn if you don’t. Some people are really childish. They have lots of unreasonable demands from others but which they themselves are incapable of doing.
Thus, even when people judge us unfairly, we know better than to get mad at them. That means we are not affected so much by people’s reactions. If we continue to do good, time will come when we get vindicated. That is the wisdom of being good.
To be blessed is to be in the favor of God who is our loving Father. In Him, there is peace and joy. His love is everlasting. On the other hand, to have woes means we are out of favor with God. Without Him, we are lost and we don’t have peace and joy. Instead, we live in darkness and in misery.
The gospel reading above tells us how to be blessed. It also tells us how not to be blessed and to have woes. The distinction is very clear and the choice is ours. To be blessed is to follow Jesus and to have woes is to follow the ways of the world.
The most wondrous sound we can ever hear is someone telling us that we are loved. The gospel reading above maybe very short but it contains what we need to hear: God loves us and He wants us to have complete joy.
We always look for true happiness somewhere. Many people seek to be happy in worldly things such as wealth, power and fame. Others think that sex, alcohol and drugs can satisfy their inner longings and make them happy. Nothing is further from the truth. Happiness is found nowhere else but only in God.
