Lumendi Ltd. is a Cornell University Spin-off The company’s first product is an add-on to any commercially available endoscope. It allows avoiding invasive colon resections to treat more complex gastrointestinal diseases. Compared to other fields digestive disease surgery has not progressed as dramatically over the last years. Gastrointestinal surgeons use a “cut out a piece of intestine and sew it back together” approach to eradicate disease. This is an invasive and expensive procedure. It requires: – general anesthesia, – extended hospital stay and – significant time for the patient to return to daily activities.
