TLC 700 – Brief description
 Electronic air curtain controller TLC 700 with wired control element (remote control) for 5-
stage or fully adjustable (in conjunction with ECM motors) activation of Teddington air curtain
systems.
 The TLC 700 consists of the control element (remote control) and control board (master
and/or master/slave); the control board is installed in the air curtain.
 A colour touchscreen with graphical presentation of the specific type of installation enables
Teddington air curtain systems to be adjusted simply and accurately to meet all require-
ments.
 The TLC700 is characterised by a simple, self-explanatory menu navigation and program-
ming by means of the integrated installation assistant. The menu navigation is available in
5 languages. Every operating step is explained by an integrated help function.
 Up to 9 air curtain systems can be connected to one control element and addressed
individually or in parallel via the control element (TLC 700).
 Room temperature sensors integrated in the control panel or by means of external
room sensors; sensors to control the heating function to a reduced, programmable
speed level; display of the current room temperature; adjustable night-time tem-
perature reduction.
 Manual/automatic function: automatic function via room thermostat or door con-
tact, automatic switching of stages by external transmitter e.g. external thermo-
stat, wind turbine, IR sensor, building management system (BMS) (0-10V, 0-
20mA). The run-on time is freely programmable, and the speed levels for run-on
and room heating function can be selected separately.
 Integrated week timer with freely selectable programming of switching times for
overriding enable function.
 Summer /winter function: automatic switching between summer/winter function:
automatic switching between summer/winter via external temperature sensor (op-
tion), activation of solenoid valve or pump, room temperature dependant electron-
ic air discharge temperature control (option).
 Integrated filter monitoring function – can be adapted easily on site to operating con-
ditions, can be programmed to evaluate operating hours or external transmitter.
 Key lock with adjustable code can be activated.
 Retrieval of error messages via a battery cached error memory for remote diag-
nostics and assignment of an error message to the individual device concerned.
 Floating enable, operating and error message for simple communication with the
BMS. Output for transmission of the current speed level to the BMS (0-10V).
 Recommended cable for bus cable: J-Y(ST)Y 2x2x0.8 mm² (shielded, twisted
control cable). This guarantees a fault-free transmission up to 400 m. The con-
necting terminals have reverse polarity protection and are short-circuit-proof.
 Dimensions of control element: 135 x 96 x 28 mm

1 Assembly, technical data and eBus diagram
1.1 Assembly information
Assembly environment: Closed, dry room which is protected from dirt.
Assembly: Wall-mounting with screws and dowels provided. The
two fastening holes are positioned diagonally on two
corners (see drawing).
Alternatively it is possible to assemble directly on a
flush-mounted box. In this case it is necessary to
ensure that only the four-wire connecting cables
of the control element are inside the flush-
mounted box! Installation must be performed by an
electrician; all applicable provisions and regulations of
the responsible electricity supply company must be
complied with.
1.2 Wiring information
eBus networks: A shielded, twisted two-wire cable must be used to set up eBus
networks. The wire shielding must be fastened to the housing of
the air curtain system. The bus cable must have the properties
listed below:
 The cable diameter must be at least 0.8 mm2

 The total of all bus cables must not exceed a maximum overall
length of 400 m.

In contrast to the abovementioned eBus networks, a four-wire cable
is used for the wiring of the TLC 700 control element. Two wires
are for the eBus and two for the voltage supply. Details regarding
the cable cross-section and the overall length etc. remain un-
changed.

NOTE
If more than one circuit board (master and/or master/slave) is connected, it
is important for uninterrupted operation that the jumper is not placed on
the same circuit board as the one on which the control element is connect-
ed. For example the control element which provides the supply voltage can
be connected to the master circuit board 1. The jumper which guarantees
the eBus supply must then be placed on master circuit board 2 or slave 1.
It is also important to note that individual master systems in this eBus sys-
tem must not be disconnected from the power supply.

Synchronisation: Up to 8 TLC 700 slave circuit boards can be connected to a TLC
700 master circuit board via the eBus interface in order to activate
further air curtain systems synchronously with the master system.
Only one TLC 700 control element can be used per eBus network.
The jumper for the eBus supply may only be placed on a circuit
board (master or slave). The control element should not also be
connected to this circuit board. The maximum number of circuit
boards per eBus is 9, whereby at least one master circuit board
must be connected. The addresses should be adjusted by DIP
switch on the circuit boards.

2.5 Master terminal description
Terminal N: Mains voltage N-conductor (230V / 50 Hz).
Terminal L: Mains voltage L-conductor (230V / 50 Hz).
Terminal 52: Connection of the motor neutral conductor.
Terminal 51: Connection of the motor phase.
Terminal N: Connection of the neutral conductor for the autotransformer.
Terminal L1: Connection of the phase for the transformer.
Terminal L1: Connection of the phase for the circuitry with 57 (if necessary).
Terminal 57: Connection of the transformer tapping with the highest voltage
(e.g. 230 V).
Terminal 56: Connection of the transformer tapping with the 2nd

Terminal 33: Connection of the phase to open the mixer. The mixer is used to
adjust the air discharge temperature.
Terminal 34: Connection of the phase to close the mixer.
Terminal PE: Connection of the earth conductor.
Terminal 15: Root of the floating changeover contact for the ext. fault message
(230 V / max. 8 A or extra low voltage).
Terminal 13: If there is no fault, the root from is switched from terminal 15 to terminal
13.
Terminal 14: If a fault is present, the root from is switched from terminal 15 to terminal
14.
Terminal 12: Root of the floating changeover contact for the ext. operating message
(230 V / max. 8 A or extra low voltage).
Terminal 10: If the fan motors are still, then the root is switched from terminal 12
to terminal 10.
Terminal 11: If the fan motors are running, then the root is switched from terminal 12
to terminal X5 / 11.
Terminal 20 & 21: Input for the floating thermal contacts of the fan motors.
Terminal 22 & 23: Input for the floating thermal contacts of the transformer.
Terminal 24 & 25: Input for the floating switch of the filter monitoring.
Terminal 16 & 17: Input for the floating frost protection switch.

Terminal 18 & 19: Input for the floating repair switch.
Terminal 35 & 36: Input for the air discharge temperature sensor.
This sensor is an NTC with a specific characteristic curve.
Terminal 37 & 38: Output (0...10 V) to activate fans with 0...10-V input
or as stage operating message. Stage 0 = 1 V, St. 1 = 2.5 V, St. 2 = 4 V,
St. 3 = 5.5 V, St. 4 = 7 V, St. 5 = 8.5V (+/- 0.5 V).
The positive potential lies on terminal 37. Terminal 38 is GND.
Terminal 28 & 29: Input for a floating ext. enabling contact (e.g. DDC).
Terminal 39 & 42: Input (4 ... 20 mA) for the IR sensor. The IR sensor is used to
measure the ground temperature. The fan speed is controlled in
automatic operating mode on the basis of the ground temperature and an
adjusted set point. The positive potential is connected to terminal 39.
Terminal 42 is the common GND connection for the inputs 39, 40 and 41.
Terminal 40 & 42: Input (0 ... 10 V) for specification of a fan speed level in automatic
operating mode (e.g. when using a wind turbine). The fan speed is
controlled in automatic operating mode on the basis of the input
voltage and an adjusted set point. The positive potential is connected to
terminal 40. Terminal 42 is the common GND connection for the inputs
39, 40 and 41.
Terminal 41 & 42: Input for the outdoor temperature sensor. This sensor is
an NTC with a specific characteristic curve. The outdoor
temperature measured influences the fan speed.
Terminal 30 & 31: Input for a floating ext. automatic operating mode contact (e.g. room
thermostat).
Terminal 26 & 27: Input for a floating ext. automatic operating mode contact (e.g. door
contact).
Terminal 1 & 2: Bus connection for the operating element with reverse polarity protection.
Terminal 1 & 2: Bus connection for a master or slave circuit board with reverse polarity
protection.
Terminal 3 & 4: Supply voltage control element.

3 Start screen on putting into operation for the first time
“Installation assistant” screen
This screen is shown when you implement the installation assistant or when you have switched the
system off.
Next button:
By pushing the Next button you can access the “Languages” menu and start the in-
stallation assistant which guides you through the settings menu.
Key button:
The key button activates/deactivates the key lock.

4 Commissioning using the installation assistant
4.1 Setting the language
In the “Languages” menu it is possible to set one of the five languages displayed.
When a language has been selected, a blue tick appears next to the selected language and the
heading changes into the selected language.
German is set as standard language.
Back button:
The “Back” button returns you to the last menu accessed.
Next button (is only displayed in the installation assistant):
Pushing the “Next” button takes you to the “Basic buttons” menu.
Information button:
Actuating the “Info” button opens an information screen. This contains a brief expla-
nation of the setting options in the respective menu.

4.2 Basic buttons
All buttons which can appear on the individual menu pages are explained on these menu screens.
Scroll buttons:
You can scroll backwards and forwards between “basic buttons” screens using the
scroll buttons.
Next button (is only displayed in the installation assistant):
Pushing the “Next” button takes you to the “Installation assistant” menu.

4.3 Installation assistant
This screen is only displayed in the installation assistant. It is an information screen that is intended
to protect against incorrect commissioning.
Back button:
The “Back” button returns you to the last menu accessed.
Next button (is only displayed in the installation assistant):
Pushing the “Next” button takes you to the “Address installer” menu.
Information button:
Actuating the “Info” button opens an information screen. This contains a brief ex-
planation of the setting options in the respective menu.
Cancel assistant button:
The installation procedure can be aborted using this button and you return to the
start screen of the installation assistant again. Previous entries in the installation
assistant are deleted.

4.4 Address installer
The contact details of the installer are entered and saved in this menu. This entry is optional, but
advisable. It enables the end user to know at all times who to approach for servicing and repair
work.
Back button:
The “Back” button returns you to the last menu accessed.
Next button (is only displayed in the installation assistant):
Pushing the “Next” button takes you to the “Master systems” menu.
Information button:

4.5 Master systems selection
This screen is only displayed in the installation assistant.
In total up to 9 air curtain systems can be controlled/regulated from one control element (remote con-
trol) of the TLC 700 controller. In this menu you can stipulate whether all connected air curtain sys-
tems are to be set with identical basic parameters or whether individual parameters should apply to
each master system. The basic parameters set in the installation assistant can be changed at any
time in the settings menu.
Back button:
The “Back” button returns you to the last menu accessed.
Next button (is only displayed in the installation assistant):
Pushing the “Next” button takes you to the “Setting the time” menu.
Information button:
Actuating the “Info” button opens an information screen. This contains a brief expla-
nation of the setting options in the respective menu.
Master system identical button:
If this button is activated (green), then the values entered subsequently are sent to all
connected systems. Otherwise the number of connected master systems is deter-
mined and the operator must enter the values separately for each system.

4.6 Setting the time
Time, date and switching times can be set and specified in this menu. Time and date are already set
in the factory.
Back button:
The “Back” button returns you to the last menu accessed.
Next button (is only displayed in the installation assistant):
Pushing the “Next” button takes you to the “Enable” menu.
Information button:
Actuating the “Info” button opens an information screen. This contains a brief expla-
nation of the setting options in the respective menu.
Activation/deactivation button:
If this button is activated (green), the stored switching times are activated, and the
switching times have priority over manual and automatic operating function. The
stored switching times are not lost when the button is deactivated (red).

“Time” button:
You can set the current time in this
screen:

When you touch one of the time boxes,
a numerical input window opens up so
you can enter the desired time.
“Automatic summer/winter time set-
ting” button:
If this button is set (green), the system
automatically switches between summer
and winter time.
“Date” button:
You can set the current date in this
screen:
“Day/month/year”
If you touch one of the date boxes, a
numerical input window opens up so you
can enter the desired figures.

4.6.1 Switching times
“Start time” button:
The switching times are numbered con-
secutively. As with setting the time, a
sub-menu opens to enter the start time.
“Stop time” button:
As with setting the time, a sub-menu
opens to enter the stop time.
“Mon/Tue/Wed/Thur/Fri/Sat/Sun” but-
tons:
Selection of the days on which the start
and stop time should apply. The selected
days are indicated by a tick.
Other switching times can be created. To
do this you must scroll down using the
scroll button. The number in the “switch-
ing times” screen then changes from 01
to 02 etc.
In total 6 switching times can be set per
master system.
“Scrolling forwards and backwards”
button:
You can view the set times using the
scroll button.

4.7 Enable
It can be specified in the enable menu whether a key lock function is desired. If so, an individual key
lock code can be stipulated.

Activate key lock button:
If the key lock function is activated (green), this is displayed in menu screens.
The standard setting is green = activated with code 0000.
Authorisation code button:
When you actuate the button a 4-digit numerical input box opens. You must enter the
authorisation code 1106 here. The authorisation code is always the same, and can-
not be changed.

New code for the key lock button:
Important: before you can specify a new code for the key lock, the authorisation code
1106 must first be entered. If the authorisation code is not entered or is entered in-
correctly, the system will not accept the new key lock code!
When you actuate the button, a 4-digit numerical input box opens. You can now en-
ter your desired authorisation code. 0000 is stored as standard.
NB: if you forget the code of an activated key lock, the supply voltage must be briefly
disconnected from the controller. This deactivates the key lock and you can store a
new key lock code.
4.8 Summer/winter setting
The basic summer/winter settings of your air curtain system can be stipulated in this menu.
In summer mode the heating supply from the heating medium is interrupted. The shut-off valve, the
pump or the electronic control valve (optional) are closed or switched off.
In winter mode, the heating supply from the heating medium is enabled. The shut-off valve, the
pump or the electronic control valve (optional) are open or switched on.

“Temperature entry” button:
The summer/winter changeover is
switched manually by operating
staff by way of standard. If the
optional outdoor temperature sen-
sor is available, the summer/winter
changeover takes place automati-
cally using the specified set point
(e.g. 18 °C).

“Room temperature switching”
button
This information button is only dis-
played when the room temperature
switching has been activated in the
settings menu. It cannot be used
to adjust settings.
“Summer (cooling)” button:
This button is only displayed when
the cooling function is activated at
the manufacturer level (standard =
deactivated). The summer (cool-
ing) function is required when the
air curtain system is also to be
used for cooling. In this case the
output signal to the motorised con-
trol valve is reversed. The tem-
perature set point for the summer
mode can be entered here.
“Winter (heating)” button:
The temperature set point for win-
ter mode can be entered here.
General: When you touch the
temperature box, a numerical input
window opens up so you can enter
the desired temperature.

The current air discharge tempera-
ture of the air curtain system is

“Mixer run time” button:
This specifies the run time that the
valve requires from one end posi-
tion to the other end position (fac-
tory setting = 330 sec).
“I-control constant (heating)”
button:
The integral part of the electronic
air discharge temperature control
which influences the control per-
formance can be adjusted here
(setting from 0 to 240 sec., factory
setting = 200 sec.).
“P-control constant (heating)”
button:
The proportional part of the elec-
tronic air discharge temperature
control which influences the con-
trol performance can be adjusted
here (setting from 10 to 1000 %,
factory setting = 500 %).
“Min. valve opening” button:
When a value (greater than 0%) is
entered here, a specific volume of
water flows permanently through
the heater battery. This prevents
the heater battery freezing in the
winter, causing frost damage. This
function is only active in winter
mode!

4.9 Manual/automatic mode setting
This menu page is displayed with speed or level, depending on which type of motor is installed (AC
or DC). It is set in the factory (Teddington).
Specify the basic manual/automatic mode settings for your air curtain system in this menu.
In manual mode the air curtain system operates permanently at the preselected level. The level can
be set on the control element.
In automatic mode the air curtain system is switched on and off automatically. The level is prese-
lected manually on the control element or optionally automatically.
Back button:
The “Back” button returns you to the last menu accessed.
Next button (is only displayed in the installation assistant):
Pushing the “Next” button takes you to the “Room thermostat” menu.

Manual/Auto function button:
When this function is activated (green), the air curtain system can be operated in both
manual and automatic operating mode. If the customer wishes the system to be op-
erated in only one mode (either just manual or just automatic), this can be specified
by deactivating (red). It is defined at the manufacturer level whether only manual or
only automatic operating mode should be active.
Automatic run-on button:
You can specify here how long the fans continue to run after the system has been
switched off in automatic mode. This prevents the system being switched on and off
constantly in busy times (adjustable: 0-600 sec, standard = 20 sec).
Level/speed for the run-on button:
By activating this function (green), you can specify a level or a speed for the run-on
time. When you touch the numeric keypad, a numerical input window opens up so
you can enter the desired level.

Only one of the four automatic functions described below can be se-
lected! The decision as to which function is best for you depends on
the particular building situation.
“Outdoor temperature sensor” button:
The speed or level switching takes place
automatically here using an optional out-
door temperature sensor. This function is
only active in automatic operating mode.
Button set (green) - “Outdoor tempera-
ture” function is active.
“Summer/winter operation” button:
By activating this function (green), the
system is also controlled automatically
via the outdoor temperature sensor in
summer mode.
“Summer/winter changeover” button:
When this function is activated, the sum-
mer/winter changeover for the speed
control takes place according to the set
point that has been entered (standard
value = 18°C).

The heading “level” or “speed” depends
on the type of motor installed.

temperature” screen has been deactivat-
ed (red), the summer column is not
shown. Only entries for the winter mode
can be made therefore.

4.10 Room thermostat setting
Whether the system is to be switched on and off automatically using a room thermostat and there-
fore the heating function is desired is specified using the room thermostat menu. The automatic ac-
tivation via terminals 26 and 27 (door contact) has priority over the room thermostat function!

The “Back” button returns you to the last menu accessed.
Information button:
Actuating the “Info” button opens an information screen. This contains a brief expla-
nation of the setting options in the respective menu.
Thermostat button:
The room thermostat function is active (standard = activated) when this button is set
(green).
Internal/external button:
By actuating the internal or external button, you specify whether the internal room
sensor or an external room sensor/external room thermostat is to be used for the
thermostat function. The controller automatically detects whether an external room
sensor or an external room thermostat has been connected.

Set point button:
You can enter the set point for the room temperature here. If the room temperature
(actual value) falls below the set point, the system is switched on in automatic mode.
This set point is used for the internal and external room sensor.

Base load level/base load speed button:
This function is active when this button is set (green) and the following settings (e.g.
base load level/base load speed) are displayed (standard = deactivated).
Scroll forwards button:
You can scroll to the next settings menu page using this button.
Scroll backwards button:
You can scroll back to the previous settings menu page using this button.
Next button (is only displayed in the installation assistant):
Pushing the “Next” button takes you to the “Servicing” menu.
Depending on which motor has been
connected (AC or EC), “base load level”
or “base load speed” is displayed in the
menu. The AC or EC motor setting is
made by the manufacturer.
“Base load level/base load speed
button:
When the base load level/base load
speed button (previous screen) has been
activated (green), the input box for the
base load level/base load speed appears
in the menu. Using this setting you can
specify a special level/speed for the room
thermostat operation.
“Night-time temperature reduction”
button:
You can set a different night-time room
temperature by activating this function
(green). This function can only be acti-
vated when switching times have been
activated in the timer program.
“Set point” button (is only displayed
when the night-time temperature re-
duction is active):
You can adjust the room temperature at
which the systems should be switched on
at night by actuating the set point button.
This set point is used for the internal and
external room sensor (standard = 16°C).
“Actual value box:
The current room temperature is dis-
played here.

4.11 Servicing menu
Whether and how a filter service message is generated is specified in the servicing menu.

Filter servicing button:
This function is active (standard = activated) when this button is set (green) and you
are informed automatically when the next service is due.

Internal/external button (is only displayed with activate filter servicing):
By actuating the internal or external button, you can specify whether the service mes-
sage is triggered internally or by an external signal. If the internal button is activated,
the service is generated by a time module (operating hours). If the external button
has been activated, a service message is triggered via an external signalling device
(terminal 24/25).
Actual operating hours display:
Display of the operating hours since the last service. The operating hours are incre-
mental.
Target operating hours button:
Specification of the time interval between servicing units (standard = 500h; you can
and should check this interval and adapt it to your situation. Please refer to the air
curtain operating instructions to find out how to establish the correct interval).
Set to 0 button:
By actuating the “Set to 0 button”, the actual operating hours display is set to 0. The
counting of the operating hours starts from the beginning again.
This completes the installation assistant for the first master system. If you have select-
ed further different master systems, you can now go to the start of the second installa-
tion assistant for the second master system starting with setting the time.
If you have not selected another master system, you go to the main screen for the con-
troller.

5 Main screen / standard displays
5.1Standard screen depending on the version of air curtain system
The arrangement of the air curtain system in the display has already been set in
the factory and can be changed by the manufacturer at any time. After implement-
ing the installation assistant, one of the following screens is displayed for each
master system:
“IDW” screen (air roll rotating inwards)
The system selection box only appears if more than one master system is pre-
sent in the system (eBus)!

5.3 Functions main screen
Key lock button:
The key lock can be activated and deactivated here. Actuating the button opens
a window in which the key lock code can be entered. After entering the code the
display is locked and therefore protected from unauthorised operation. The acti-
vated key lock is displayed by a closed padlock.
Settings menu button:
The settings overview menu is opened using this button:
On/off button:
Switches the master air curtain system off. If more than one master systems
(Multimaster) are connected, all systems are switched off simultaneously by
keeping the button pressed for longer.

5.5 Entry and keypad
The operator must be able to store various values in the settings menu pages. For example when
setting the time, press on the value you want to change and this opens a numerical keypad in a sub-
menu. You can enter the new value here and/or delete the existing values again using the “Delete
button”.
A written entry must be stored for other settings. A keypad screen therefore appears for these input
boxes (when touched).

Using the reinforcement factor 2 and

“Minimum set point air discharge

With this setting you determine the
lowest set point of the electronic air
discharge temperature control
(standard setting 30 °C) which the
room temperature switching calcu-
lates and does not fall below.

opens up so you can enter the de-
sired level.
Scroll forwards button:
You can scroll to the next settings menu page using this button.
“Contact details of installer” but-
ton
Actuating this box takes you to the
sub-menu to change or enter the ad-
dress data of the installer; see Chap-
ter 4.4, Page 21.
“Sleep mode” button
Actuating this box takes you to a sub-
menu in which you can adjust the
sleep mode time. The function is
active when no further operation has
taken place after the set time (stand-
ard setting 15 minutes). The idle
screen appears in the display
(black/grey image). If 0 is entered
here, the sleep mode is deactivated.
To deactivate the function you only
need to touch the screen. Irrespec-
tive of where you were before activa-
tion, after activation you are always
on the main screen.

The faults screen shows you a report of the last faults that have arisen.
If a fault occurs, this is firstly displayed on the main screen.
Once the fault has been rectified, it can be acknowledged using the button .
The fault window is then faded out. The fault can only be acknowledged if you
are on the screen of the respective master system, e.g. the is not displayed if a
fault is present in system 2, but the operator is in the menu of system 1!

Page 2 Status 13.06.2014 Operating Instructions for Controller TLC 700 TLC 700 – Brief description  Electronic air curtain controller TLC 700 with wired control element (remote control) for 5- stage or fully adjustable (in conjunction with ECM motors) activation of Teddington air curtain systems.  The TLC 700 consists of the control element (remote control) and control board (master and/or master/slave); the control board is installed in the air curtain.  A colour touchscreen with graphical presentation of the specific type of installation enables Teddington air curtain systems to be adjusted simply and accurately to meet all require- ments.  The TLC700 is characterised by a simple, self-explanatory menu navigation and program- ming by means of the integrated installation assistant. The menu navigation is available in 5 languages. Every operating step is explained by an integrated help function.  Up to 9 air curtain systems can be connected to one control element and addressed individually or in parallel via the control element (TLC 700).  Room temperature sensors integrated in the control panel or by means of external room sensors; sensors to control the heating function to a reduced, programmable speed level; display of the current room temperature; adjustable night-time tem- perature reduction.  Manual/automatic function: automatic function via room thermostat or door con- tact, automatic switching of stages by external transmitter e.g. external thermo- stat, wind turbine, IR sensor, building management system (BMS) (0-10V, 0- 20mA). The run-on time is freely programmable, and the speed levels for run-on and room heating function can be selected separately.  Integrated week timer with freely selectable programming of switching times for overriding enable function.  Summer /winter function: automatic switching between summer/winter function: automatic switching between summer/winter via external temperature sensor (op- tion), activation of solenoid valve or pump, room temperature dependant electron- ic air discharge temperature control (option).  Integrated filter monitoring function – can be adapted easily on site to operating con- ditions, can be programmed to evaluate operating hours or external transmitter.  Key lock with adjustable code can be activated.  Retrieval of error messages via a battery cached error memory for remote diag- nostics and assignment of an error message to the individual device concerned.  Floating enable, operating and error message for simple communication with the BMS. Output for transmission of the current speed level to the BMS (0-10V).  Recommended cable for bus cable: J-Y(ST)Y 2x2x0.8 mm² (shielded, twisted control cable). This guarantees a fault-free transmission up to 400 m. The con- necting terminals have reverse polarity protection and are short-circuit-proof.  Dimensions of control element: 135 x 96 x 28 mm  Made in Germany. Only adequately trained personnel who meet the requirements set out in the device operating instructions may work on the installation. It is necessary to ensure that the main power supply has been turned off before all work.

Assembly: Wall-mounting with screws and dowels provided. The two fastening holes are positioned diagonally on two corners (see drawing). Alternatively it is possible to assemble directly on a flush-mounted box. In this case it is necessary to ensure that only the four-wire connecting cables of the control element are inside the flush- mounted box! Installation must be performed by an electrician; all applicable provisions and regulations of the responsible electricity supply company must be complied with. 1.2 Wiring information eBus networks: A shielded, twisted two-wire cable must be used to set up eBus networks. The wire shielding must be fastened to the housing of the air curtain system. The bus cable must have the properties listed below:  The cable diameter must be at least 0.8 mm2 .  The total of all bus cables must not exceed a maximum overall length of 400 m. 70mm 110 mm Control element

Two wires are for the eBus and two for the voltage supply. Details regarding the cable cross-section and the overall length etc. remain un- changed. Only one TLC 700 control element can be used per eBus network. The jumper for the eBus supply may only be placed on a circuit board (master or slave). The control element should not also be connected to this circuit board. The maximum number of circuit boards per eBus is 9, whereby at least one master circuit board must be connected. In total up to 9 air curtain systems can be controlled/regulated from one control element (remote con- trol) of the TLC 700 controller. In this menu you can stipulate whether all connected air curtain sys- tems are to be set with identical basic parameters or whether individual parameters should apply to each master system. The basic parameters set in the installation assistant can be changed at any time in the settings menu. Back button: The “Back” button returns you to the last menu accessed. Next button (is only displayed in the installation assistant): Pushing the “Next” button takes you to the “Setting the time” menu. As with setting the time, a sub-menu opens to enter the start time. “Stop time” button: As with setting the time, a sub-menu opens to enter the stop time. “Mon/Tue/Wed/Thur/Fri/Sat/Sun” but- tons: Selection of the days on which the start and stop time should apply. The selected days are indicated by a tick. Other switching times can be created. To do this you must scroll down using the scroll button. The number in the “switch- ing times” screen then changes from 01 to 02 etc. In total 6 switching times can be set per master system. “Scrolling forwards and backwards” button: You can view the set times using the scroll button.

If so, an individual key lock code can be stipulated. Back button: The “Back” button returns you to the last menu accessed. Information button: Actuating the “Info” button opens an information screen. This contains a brief expla- nation of the setting options in the respective menu. Activate key lock button: If the key lock function is activated (green), this is displayed in menu screens. The standard setting is green = activated with code 0000. Authorisation code button: When you actuate the button a 4-digit numerical input box opens. You must enter the authorisation code 1106 here. The authorisation code is always the same, and can- not be changed.

If the authorisation code is not entered or is entered in- correctly, the system will not accept the new key lock code! When you actuate the button, a 4-digit numerical input box opens. You can now en- ter your desired authorisation code. 0000 is stored as standard. NB: if you forget the code of an activated key lock, the supply voltage must be briefly disconnected from the controller. This deactivates the key lock and you can store a new key lock code. 4.8 Summer/winter setting The basic summer/winter settings of your air curtain system can be stipulated in this menu. In summer mode the heating supply from the heating medium is interrupted. The shut-off valve, the pump or the electronic control valve (optional) are closed or switched off. In winter mode, the heating supply from the heating medium is enabled. The shut-off valve, the pump or the electronic control valve (optional) are open or switched on. Back button: The “Back” button returns you to the last menu accessed.

Summer/winter function button: When this function is activated (green), the air curtain system can be operated both in summer and winter. If the customer wishes the system to only be operated in one mode (either just summer or just winter), this can be specified by deactivating the function (red). Whether only the summer mode or only the winter mode should be active is defined at the manufacturer level. 4.8.1. Automatic summer/winter changeover “Temperature entry” button: The summer/winter changeover is switched manually by operating staff by way of standard. If the optional outdoor temperature sen- sor is available, the summer/winter changeover takes place automati- cally using the specified set point (e.g. 18 °C). An additional window opens up to enter the desired temperature (standard setting = 18°C) when you actuate this button. When you touch the temperature box, a numerical input window opens up so you can enter the desired temperature.

Page 29Status 13.06.2014 4.8.2 Electronic air discharge temperature control “Room temperature switching” button This information button is only dis- played when the room temperature switching has been activated in the settings menu. It cannot be used to adjust settings. “Summer (cooling)” button: This button is only displayed when the cooling function is activated at the manufacturer level (standard = deactivated). The summer (cool- ing) function is required when the air curtain system is also to be used for cooling. In this case the output signal to the motorised con- trol valve is reversed. The tem- perature set point for the summer mode can be entered here. “Winter (heating)” button: The temperature set point for win- ter mode can be entered here. General: When you touch the temperature box, a numerical input window opens up so you can enter the desired temperature. Actual value box: The current air discharge tempera- ture of the air curtain system is displayed here.

Page 30 Status 13.06.2014 Operating Instructions for Controller TLC 700 “Mixer run time” button: This specifies the run time that the valve requires from one end posi- tion to the other end position (fac- tory setting = 330 sec). “I-control constant (heating)” button: The integral part of the electronic air discharge temperature control which influences the control per- formance can be adjusted here (setting from 0 to 240 sec., factory setting = 200 sec.). “P-control constant (heating)” button: The proportional part of the elec- tronic air discharge temperature control which influences the con- trol performance can be adjusted here (setting from 10 to 1000 %, factory setting = 500 %). “Min. valve opening” button: When a value (greater than 0%) is entered here, a specific volume of water flows permanently through the heater battery. This prevents the heater battery freezing in the winter, causing frost damage. This function is only active in winter mode! General: When you touch the nu- meric keypad, a numerical input window opens up so you can enter the desired level.

It is set in the factory (Teddington). Specify the basic manual/automatic mode settings for your air curtain system in this menu. In manual mode the air curtain system operates permanently at the preselected level. The level can be set on the control element. In automatic mode the air curtain system is switched on and off automatically. The level is prese- lected manually on the control element or optionally automatically. Back button: The “Back” button returns you to the last menu accessed. Next button (is only displayed in the installation assistant): Pushing the “Next” button takes you to the “Room thermostat” menu. Information button: Actuating the “Info” button opens an information screen. This contains a brief expla- nation of the setting options in the respective menu.

If the customer wishes the system to be op- erated in only one mode (either just manual or just automatic), this can be specified by deactivating (red). It is defined at the manufacturer level whether only manual or only automatic operating mode should be active. Automatic run-on button: You can specify here how long the fans continue to run after the system has been switched off in automatic mode. This prevents the system being switched on and off constantly in busy times (adjustable: 0-600 sec, standard = 20 sec). Level/speed for the run-on button: By activating this function (green), you can specify a level or a speed for the run-on time. When you touch the numeric keypad, a numerical input window opens up so you can enter the desired level. PLEASE NOTE Only one of the four automatic functions described below can be se- lected! The decision as to which function is best for you depends on the particular building situation. “Outdoor temperature sensor” button: The speed or level switching takes place automatically here using an optional out- door temperature sensor. This function is only active in automatic operating mode. Button set (green) - “Outdoor tempera- ture” function is active. “Summer/winter operation” button: By activating this function (green), the system is also controlled automatically via the outdoor temperature sensor in summer mode. “Summer/winter changeover” button: When this function is activated, the sum- mer/winter changeover for the speed control takes place according to the set point that has been entered (standard value = 18°C). Outdoor temperature box: The current outdoor temperature is dis- played here.

Only entries for the winter mode can be made therefore. General: When you touch the numeric keypad, a numerical input window opens up so you can enter the desired level. “Infrared sensor” button: The speed or level switching takes place automatically here when using an option- al infrared sensor. Page 38 Status 13.06.2014 Operating Instructions for Controller TLC 700 4.10 Room thermostat setting Whether the system is to be switched on and off automatically using a room thermostat and there- fore the heating function is desired is specified using the room thermostat menu. The automatic ac- tivation via terminals 26 and 27 (door contact) has priority over the room thermostat function! Back button: The “Back” button returns you to the last menu accessed. Information button: Actuating the “Info” button opens an information screen. This contains a brief expla- nation of the setting options in the respective menu. Thermostat button: The room thermostat function is active (standard = activated) when this button is set (green). Internal/external button: By actuating the internal or external button, you specify whether the internal room sensor or an external room sensor/external room thermostat is to be used for the thermostat function. The controller automatically detects whether an external room sensor or an external room thermostat has been connected.

If the room temperature (actual value) falls below the set point, the system is switched on in automatic mode. This set point is used for the internal and external room sensor. Actual value box: The current room temperature is displayed here. Base load level/base load speed button: This function is active when this button is set (green) and the following settings (e.g. base load level/base load speed) are displayed (standard = deactivated). Scroll forwards button: You can scroll to the next settings menu page using this button. Scroll backwards button: You can scroll back to the previous settings menu page using this button. Next button (is only displayed in the installation assistant): Pushing the “Next” button takes you to the “Servicing” menu. Depending on which motor has been connected (AC or EC), “base load level” or “base load speed” is displayed in the menu. The AC or EC motor setting is made by the manufacturer. “Base load level/base load speed button: When the base load level/base load speed button (previous screen) has been activated (green), the input box for the base load level/base load speed appears in the menu. Using this setting you can specify a special level/speed for the room thermostat operation. “Night-time temperature reduction” button: You can set a different night-time room temperature by activating this function (green). This function can only be acti- vated when switching times have been activated in the timer program. “Set point” button (is only displayed when the night-time temperature re- duction is active): You can adjust the room temperature at which the systems should be switched on at night by actuating the set point button. This set point is used for the internal and external room sensor (standard = 16°C). “Actual value box: The current room temperature is dis- played here. General: When you touch the numeric keypad, a numerical input window opens up so you can enter the desired level.

Back button: The “Back” button returns you to the last menu accessed. Next button (is only displayed in the installation assistant): Pushing the “Next” button takes you to the main screen and you leave the installation assistant. Information button: Actuating the “Info” button opens an information screen. This contains a brief expla- nation of the setting options in the respective menu. Filter servicing button: This function is active (standard = activated) when this button is set (green) and you are informed automatically when the next service is due.

Page 41Status 13.06.2014 Internal/external button (is only displayed with activate filter servicing): By actuating the internal or external button, you can specify whether the service mes- sage is triggered internally or by an external signal. If the internal button is activated, the service is generated by a time module (operating hours). If the external button has been activated, a service message is triggered via an external signalling device (terminal 24/25). Actual operating hours display: Display of the operating hours since the last service. The operating hours are incre- mental. Target operating hours button: Specification of the time interval between servicing units (standard = 500h; you can and should check this interval and adapt it to your situation. Please refer to the air curtain operating instructions to find out how to establish the correct interval). Set to 0 button: By actuating the “Set to 0 button”, the actual operating hours display is set to 0. The counting of the operating hours starts from the beginning again. This completes the installation assistant for the first master system. If you have select- ed further different master systems, you can now go to the start of the second installa- tion assistant for the second master system starting with setting the time. If you have not selected another master system, you go to the main screen for the con- troller.

Actuating the button opens a window in which the key lock code can be entered. After entering the code the display is locked and therefore protected from unauthorised operation. The acti- vated key lock is displayed by a closed padlock. Settings menu button: The settings overview menu is opened using this button: On/off button: Switches the master air curtain system off. If more than one master systems (Multimaster) are connected, all systems are switched off simultaneously by keeping the button pressed for longer.

For example when setting the time, press on the value you want to change and this opens a numerical keypad in a sub- menu. You can enter the new value here and/or delete the existing values again using the “Delete button”. A written entry must be stored for other settings. A keypad screen therefore appears for these input boxes (when touched).

Page 52 Status 13.06.2014 Operating Instructions for Controller TLC 700 Using the reinforcement factor 2 and the room temperature variation of 1°C, the set point of the air discharge temperature is corrected from 37 °C to 35 °C. “Minimum set point air discharge temperature” button: With this setting you determine the lowest set point of the electronic air discharge temperature control (standard setting 30 °C) which the room temperature switching calcu- lates and does not fall below. General: When you touch the numer- ic keypad, a numerical input window opens up so you can enter the de- sired level. Scroll forwards button: You can scroll to the next settings menu page using this button. “Contact details of installer” but- ton Actuating this box takes you to the sub-menu to change or enter the ad- dress data of the installer; see Chap- ter 4.4, Page 21. “Sleep mode” button Actuating this box takes you to a sub- menu in which you can adjust the sleep mode time. The function is active when no further operation has taken place after the set time (stand- ard setting 15 minutes). The idle screen appears in the display (black/grey image). If 0 is entered here, the sleep mode is deactivated. To deactivate the function you only need to touch the screen. Irrespec- tive of where you were before activa- tion, after activation you are always on the main screen.

Once the fault has been rectified, it can be acknowledged using the button . The fault window is then faded out. The fault can only be acknowledged if you are on the screen of the respective master system, e.g. the is not displayed if a fault is present in system 2, but the operator is in the menu of system 1!
