The document discusses how to "sit at Jesus' feet" by learning from the Bible. It says that through studying the Bible, which contains Jesus' words, believers can receive everything they need for life and godliness. It encourages reading Scripture regularly using electronic devices and sharing what is learned with others. It emphasizes that learning God's word should transform one's life, and that true faith requires both knowing biblical teachings and obeying Jesus' commands.
1. Sitting At Jesus Feet
Sitting at the feet of Jesus, how could you possibly do that now? Isn’t Jesus in Heaven? How can I sit at His
feet when I’m here on earth at camp? There is only one way that can be done today. In fact everything we need
for life God provides us in the same way.
2 Peter 1:3 NIV His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our
knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
How can we receive everything we need & sit at Jesus feet? Through our knowledge of him who called us
by his own glory and goodness. There is only one way to gain knowledge of him, & that is from The Word of
God. You might be holding it in your hands. We get everything we need & sit at Jesus feet by studying &
learning the bible.
You’ve got to be kidding me! I can see how the Bible gives us everything we need for godliness, but not
everything we need for life. What about food & clothes? How can it give me those? I’m glad you ask. Jesus has
an answer.
Luke 12:22 NIV Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what
you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23 Life is more than food, and the body more than
clothes. 24 Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them.
And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
26 Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? 27 “Consider how the lilies
grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of
these. 28 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the
fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! 29 And do not set your heart on what you will eat
or drink; do not worry about it. 30 For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that
you need them. 31 But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
Our priority is seeking his kingdom trusting & having faith God will provide our physical needs. He doesn’t
promise the most stylish clothes or every meal will be at a 5 star restaurant, but He will provide food & clothes.
My number one goal when I preach is to show people the importance of knowing God’s Word. Let’s take a
journey & discover how can sit at Jesus feet and learn.
First we’ll take a look at God the Word.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was
with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been
made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness
has not understood it.
John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the
One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
This is talking about Jesus, God the Son, The Word.
Jesus had fed the 5000 by Sea of Galilee. That night He walked on the water & joined his Disciples in the
boat. The next day some of the 5000 he had fed found him on the other side of the sea. 59b While teaching in
the synagogue in Capernaum.
John 6:53 NIV Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink
his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will
raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh
and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the
Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven.
Your forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever.”
Many were grumbling saying, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?”
John 6:66 NIV From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. 67 “You do
not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve. 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall
we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.”
Jesus, The Word, the Holy One of God, is the only one who has the words of eternal life. We must sit at His
feet by reading & studying the Bible in order to find & understand the words of eternal life.

2. Sitting At Jesus Feet
How can we know for sure we can trust the words of eternal life that comes from Jesus? He shares a secret
with us in John 14:10 NIV Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I
say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.
The words of eternal life originate, come directly from God the Father.
James, who surely must be Jesus brother confirms God the Father is at the controls sending us what we
need.
James 1:16 NIV Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers. 17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming
down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. 18 He chose to give us
birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
James speaks further about our need to sit at Jesus feet & learn. But don’t just sit around with a head full of
knowledge, put it in action.
James 1:21 NIV Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the
word planted in you, which can save you. 22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do
what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face
in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But the
man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he
has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does. 26 If anyone considers himself religious and yet
does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. 27 Religion that God
our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep
oneself from being polluted by the world.
The Apostle Peter tells us to be ready after we sit at Jesus feet & learn the words of eternal life.
1 Peter 3:15 NIV But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to
everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,
How terrible it would be when we know the words of eternal life but won’t or don’t share them with
someone else so they can learn the words of eternal life & be saved from the fires of Hell.
The Apostle Paul tells Timothy he must be actively studying & properly using The Word.
2Timothy 2:15 NIV Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not
need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
The Word must be a big part of who we are. We must be actively using The Word. How do we correctly
use, handle the word. Doesn't it have to be controling our lives, causing us to share it with others?
I believe the Apostle Paul says exactly that to the saints in Collose.
Colossians 3:15 NIV Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were
called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one
another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to
God. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to
God the Father through him.
It is through The Word we are born again to live a new life, an eternal life.
1 Peter 1:18 NIV For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were
redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, 19 but with the precious blood
of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 20 He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was
revealed in these last times for your sake. 21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead
and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God. 22 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying
the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart. 23 For you
have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of
God. 24 For, “All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and
the flowers fall, 25 but the word of the Lord stands forever.” And this is the word that was preached to you.
Our daily life will show we know The Word. We can’t read & study The Word and not let it control our life.
Learning at the feet of Jesus directs how we live.
1 John 2:3 NIV We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. 4 The man who says, “I
know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But if anyone obeys his

word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: 6 Whoever claims to live
in him must walk as Jesus did.
How is it we are “born again” and when does this new life begin? Paul in his letter to the saints in Rome
tells us exactly when & how this happens.
Romans 6:1 NIV What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no
means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized
into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death
in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new
life. 5 If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his
resurrection. 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away
with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— 7 because anyone who has died has been freed from sin. 8
Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 For we know that since Christ was
raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10 The death he died, he died
to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. 11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but
alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil
desires. 13 Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves
to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as
instruments of righteousness. 14 For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under
grace.
So the point in all of this is learning by sitting at Jesus feet you must know The Word, Jesus. The only way
to know Him is to know the words that came from the mouth of God, The Scriptures, The Bible.
2 Timothy 3:16 NIV All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and
training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
David told me the theme of this camp is Sitting at the feet of Jesus and listening to His word. He said, "I
want the kids to see the importance of disconnecting from the IPad, IPod, IPhone, etc. and listening to Jesus."
I’m going to do the exact opposite. I want you to use your IPad, IPod, IPhone, MP3 player, Android phone,
tablets more & computers more. I want you to use them to Sit at the feet of Jesus, listening to & reading His
word. Put God’s word, The Bible on all your electronics & use them. You can get Bibles for most of them for
free. Google whatever you need to get such as, free MP3 bible, free android bible, free IPhone bible, you get the
idea.
My favorites are eSword for the PC & Windows mobile phone, MySword, Android Bible & YouVersion for
the android phone or tablet. There is OliveTree Bible program that I think works on about anything. For
anything that plays MP3 files I have the NIV, NET New Testament & Daily message. Those last two I had to
buy, but there are a lot of other version for free. Right now I’m listening to the DailyMessage for MP3 which is
the Message Bible translation broken down in 356 daily readings. I can listen to it on my MP3 player while
reading it on my phone, tablet or computer. I’m sure you know the more senses you use to experience
something the better you’ll learn about it. So I’m covering two of my senses. I hear it & I see it. If only I could
smell it, touch it and taste it I would be fully experiencing it.
Instead of texting your friends or listening to your favorite music, read or listen to God's Word. Let it
change your life & eternity. Share it & let it change someone elses life & eternity.
