During this period, I worked as a paralegal in Ohio on an independent-contractor basis. As such,

discovery requests and responses to the same, jury instructions, interrogatories, verdict forms,

law using LEXIS/WESTLAW and PREMISE and written legal authorities (in fact, I was the one
who oversaw the computerization of the law office sometime around 1993). This research
activity included Shepardizing case and statutory law online on a regular basis.
Moreover, I also used WordPerfect 8.0 to draft questions for voir dire and direct/cross-
examination of witnesses for both trials and depositions, and I interpreted for Spanish-speaking
clients as needed (in fact,I made a point of learning Spanish legal vocabulary in order to be able
to assist Spanish-speaking clients). Finally, I also used online research tools to help the attorneys
I worked for assess case settlement potential, which meant that I also used WordPerfect 8.0 to
draft settlement brochures.
