automotive lithium-ion batteries which are expected to be generated in large quantities in the future and are currently largely

separate dissolved multivalent ions and organic matter. Prime uses of these membranes are to filter ground and river water
hardness and agricultural chemicals. Toray has developed a cross-linked polymer membrane with a highly acid-resistant setup and
a precision pore structure smaller than 1 nanometer. Toray's technology streamlines the recovery of valuable metals and high-
purity lithium in high yields, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by nearly two-thirds compared to the ore process. The company
plans to collaborate with automakers, battery and battery material manufacturers, recycling companies, and other players to
establish a lithium recycling approach. Toray aims to achieve a carbon-neutral economy by eliminating lithium shortages, which will
become a significant concern with the penetration of electric vehicles.
• Functional venting systems are crucial for long-term use of lithium-ion batteries in motorized vehicles. Battery housings are
susceptible to temperature and pressure fluctuations, causing damage. Adequate ventilation solutions, like GREMCO ePTFE
