Kirsten DeJarlais is a first-year graduate student in the MA/PhD program in Spanish, Italian and Portuguese at the Pennsylvania State University. She was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin and was a consummate educator from the get-go, preferring to “tutor” her younger brother the alphabet to more conventional kindergarten summer pastimes. Kirsten cultivated an abiding love for literature via many free hours whiled away with an engrossing book and purring cat nearby. She earned her B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature at Luther College in the lovely and unprepossessing Midwestern town of Decorah, Iowa.
