Achievements:
As a technical adviser to the laboratoryI am currently involvedin the introduction of rapid techniques (LegionellaPCR validation, introduction of
Endotoxin LAL test, currently awaiting the purchase MALDI-TOF for the rapid identification of Legionella isolates).
Working with software developers the introduction of automatic out-of-specification emailed reporting for all clients resulting in a rapid informing of
adverse results within 15 minutes of the laboratoryentering their findings in our LaboratoryInformation Managements System (LIMS).

Achievements:
Improved Legionella culture method – reduced cost by 40%, increased capacity by 100%, and increased recovery by 70%.
Initiated and project managed an automation project to improve analytical costs whilst improving quality. Obtained £150K funding for a
feasibility project with an automation partner to automate Coliform and E.coli testing.
Introduction of image analysis to routine Aerobic Colony Counting. Obtained UKAS accreditation and reduced analyst time by 25% and
improved traceability and reproducibility.
