ings & Murphy), located at
Kent Towne Center hosted
the third annual “Smiles
From the Heart – A Day of
Free Dentistry” on Saturday,
April 16. The event provided
free services to individuals
without dental insurance.
Seven dentists, seven hygien-
ists plus over two dozen other
employees and volunteers
treated more than 130 people
throughout the day. All pa-
tients had X-rays taken and were given extractions, fillings, or a hygiene
cleaning.
Since 2014, Eastern Shore Dental Care has treated over 360 individuals
during the event at zero cost to the patient.
This year, Eastern Shore Dental Care worked on patients until just after
Smiles from the Heart
5pm to make sure every individual who waited in line was able to receive
treatment. In addition to their own staff, volunteers also included visiting
doctors – including Dr. David Billings of Owings, MD, Dr. Michael Billings
of Edgewater and Dr. Dennis Cherry of Severna Park –who were on hand
for the cause. “To use our abilities and profession to help people just makes
you feel great,” said practice co-owner Dr. Scott Billings. He continued, “I’m
so proud of the people who were here all day, volunteering their time with
such an amazing energy and a deep compassion for every single patient who
walked in the door. (My partner) Dr. Murphy and I are so fortunate to have
such a committed team of professionals working beside us each and every
day.”
