2. While serious and severe wounds should be
treated by a medical professional, with the
proper care, many wounds can be treated at
home.
3. 1. Control bleeding by placing pressure on the wound and
elevating it above the heart, if possible, in order to decrease
blood flow to the injury. The bleeding should stop within ten
minutes.
2. Clean the wound by putting it under warm running water to
help remove any debris.
3. Once the wound has been cleaned and bleeding has
ceased, wipe the wounded area with a topical antiseptic and
antibiotic ointment to prevent infection.
4. Finally, bandage the wound. Use multiple bandages as
necessary to cover the entire wound area. Replace
bandages every two days.
4. Follow these steps for more minor cuts and
abrasions. More serious scrapes and cuts
may require the attention of a medical
professional; if you’re not sure if you need
medical attention, call your doctor or a
hospital immediately.
