A. Biography
Kathy has completed her doctorate of nursing practice at the University of Utah and graduated on May 6, 2016 as a family
nurse practitioner. Her educational background and pursuit of medical knowledge began in the pre-hospital arena and
progressed through nursing to practitioner. She has taught community stroke education and pre-hospital provider
education in pathophysiology, cardiac, neurologic emergencies and scene safety for both ground and air. Kathy also
provides presentations to local high school health occupation classes.
B. Professional Philosophy
As a nurse practitioner, I strive to be a source of health and wellness education for my patients and for my community. I
am an advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves and offer support for those who can. I strive to work with
humility and grace as a team member in patient care. I strive to provide a malleable piece of the healthcare system that
aims to maintain wellness, to treat the whole patient and to help them attain the highest quality of life they strive to attain.
C. Personal Mission Statement
As a family nurse practitioner in a rural community of need, my mission is to provide my patients with comprehensive
quality care. I utilize the resources available to me and strive to keep up with advances in medicine through study and
exploration of best practices. I consult with colleagues as needed because I believe medicine should be approached as a
team. My mission is also to educate my patients and encourage them to live their best lives. I find ways to reduce costs
and provide quality care to those regardless of their ability to pay.
To be an effective practitioner, I participate in continuing education and the search for evidence based, quality outcome
practices. I strive to find others interested in providing quality care at an affordable cost to patients and pursue
relationships with them to build a practice.
Work motto: I strive to build confidence with my patients and my coworkers through honesty and integrity and a strong
work ethic. I encourage others to stand up for what is right, to consider all sides to an argument, and to pursue their goals
and obtain a life/work balance.
