1. “Comfort in the Heart of Paris”
Wa-la! Comfort within my own hotel accommodations. A small window on the second floor,
just perfect for me to swing open the pane and curl up with “pen and pad”. The stone window
sill is a cooling aspect for me against the warm night.
The scents of the street consist of Persian Ham, the open flower markets and the fresh
moisture from the day’s sprinkling showers.
Dusk surrounds the city and the lights illuminate off the glistening streets. The sound of shoes
splashing the sidewalk and music from a nearby pub is echoing in my ears.
Oh – a “fender bender” leads towards the amusing angry shouts that follow the upheaval.
Horns from the distracted drivers become a musical element for all to share in the distracting
deterrent.
Somewhere behind me, the muffled closing of a door signals me that Geno, the bartender has
managed to sneak up another glass of red wine. His soft accent assures me that it is “on-the-
house”, no expectations in return. Such an accepting response from this culture of people is
truly gratifying.
Gazing back towards the city leaves a lasting impression of The Eiffel Tower’s silhouette against
the evenings’ sunset.
Retreating from my little window, I realize life has given me another insight worth sharing with
others that will someday visit this uninhibited, yet romantic city.
The evening has come to rest upon those in this little corner of the world; with the promise of
another day within the realms of the city of Paris.
